Book: One Question A Day for Positivity

Date: 8-10-2026

Prompt: “What will you accomplish this year”

When I first read the question, my answer came surprisingly fast.

I grabbed a piece of paper and wrote down three things.

Finish my new website.

Complete my new branding.

Distribute my book.

Those felt like easy answers because they were tangible. They’re projects I can point to, measure, and eventually check off a list. By the end of the year, each one will either be finished or it won’t.

But after I wrote them down, I sat with the question a little longer.

Something about my answer didn’t feel complete.

The more I reflected, the more I realized those aren’t really the accomplishments I’m hoping for this year. They’re simply the visible results of something much deeper.

This year isn’t just about building a website.

It’s about building the courage to put myself out there.

It isn’t just about creating a brand.

It’s about becoming comfortable enough to let people truly see who I am.

It isn’t just about getting a book into readers’ hands.

It’s about believing that my experiences, thoughts, and stories have value and may encourage someone else along the way.

Those projects matter, but they aren’t the destination.

They’re evidence of the person I’m becoming.

Over the past several months, I’ve noticed a pattern in my writing. Different prompts have led me back to many of the same lessons.

I’ve written about procrastination and how often I delay things that matter most.

I’ve written about moving my body more and recognizing that taking care of myself isn’t something to squeeze in when I have extra time. It’s something I need to prioritize.

I’ve written about perfection and how exhausting it can be to constantly wonder whether I’ve said the right thing, done enough, or measured up to someone else’s expectations.

I’ve written about simply being human—accepting that flaws, mistakes, and imperfect moments aren’t things to hide. They’re part of being alive.

At first those topics felt unrelated.

Now I see they’re all connected.

They’re all helping me become someone who lives with greater intention.

Someone who spends less time waiting for the perfect moment and more time taking the next step.

Someone who chooses progress over perfection.

Someone who understands that success isn’t measured only by what gets accomplished but also by who we become while accomplishing it.

Will there still be days when I procrastinate?

Probably.

Will there be days when I don’t move as much as I intended?

Absolutely.

Will I still have moments where I question myself?

Without a doubt.

But growth has never required perfection.

It only asks that we keep showing up.

I’ve learned that accomplishing something isn’t always about reaching a finish line. Sometimes it’s about becoming the kind of person who keeps moving forward, even when the path isn’t perfectly clear.

If I become someone who follows through…

Someone who values my health.

Someone who uses my time more intentionally.

Someone who continues showing up authentically.

Then I have a feeling the website will get finished.

The branding will come together.

The book will find its readers.

The accomplishments will take care of themselves because they’ll simply reflect the habits I’ve built and the person I’ve become.

Maybe that’s the real answer to this week’s question.

This year, I hope to accomplish more than completing a list of projects.

I hope to become someone who is a little braver, a little healthier, a little more intentional, and a little more fully herself than she was the year before.

To me, that feels like an accomplishment worth celebrating.

Reflection

  • When you think about what you want to accomplish this year, are you focused more on the goals or the person you’re becoming?
  • What habit, if practiced consistently, would make the biggest difference in your life?
  • Is there something you’ve been postponing that could move forward with just one small step today?
  • What does progress look like to you if perfection is no longer the expectation?
  • At the end of the year, what personal growth would make you feel the proudest, regardless of what you achieved?
