So by popular demand, I’m going to start writing a bit about my gardening experience. First, I’m no expert. I’m a ameteur backyard gardener and at best i’m muddling about until I find the information I need to make something work.
So with that out of the way here’s where I started. My first garden was done in a plastic circle container behind the townhouse I used to live in similar to the kiddie pool. I drilled a few holes for drainage in the bottom and boom, large planter. I would go ahead and grab a Famers Almanac and figure out what planting zone you’re in then, jump right in.
I started out with the basic herbs, Rosemary, Sage, Dill, Cilantro. I rotated though several plants over the few years I was in the townhouse and some were failures (including one very sad tomato plant that was absolutely eaten by worms) but others were major successes.
This Youtube video will get you on your way without much fuss:
Herbs are a good place to start, rosemary for example, is pretty forgiving. I’m still growing the same rosemary bush I started four/five years ago at this point. Once you get the routine of taking care of plants down you’ll be ready to branch out to bigger and more fruitful things.
