If you’ve ever found yourself asking, “Where are my glasses?” you’re not alone. Losing your reading glasses is incredibly common, but with a few simple strategies, you can make sure you never lose your glasses again. In this post, we’ll explore easy, practical tips to organize your reading glasses, keep track of them, and declutter your space so you always have a pair within reach when you need them most.

For some of us, glasses are a newer addition to our post 40 year old lives, and have quickly become necessities for reading basically everything from the back of medicine bottles, to recipes, to work documents, to menus – yes you name it, we cannot see it (without our glasses).

Cundill Eyeglasses

If you have ever said quietly to yourself or uttered out loud “Where are my glasses???” then this post is for you.

As I begin this post I am having a small chuckle to myself about my first time purchasing reading glasses. I remember going onto amazon and wondering why most of the readers came with multiple pairs: “Who needs so many pairs of reading glasses?” I thought. I now know why…readers are like socks, they just simply get lost and misplaced constantly, to the point where we usually need a back up (or 2 or 3) to keep us seeing. So how can we keep these much needed tools decluttered, as well as on hand (i.e. not lost) so they are there when I need them? I will offer a few ideas and hopefully you will SEE one that makes sense to you (see what I did there??!) 🙂

Always put your glasses back in the same spot

For some of us, this option will make the most sense – keeping your readers in the same place every time is a sure fire way to keep them available and not lost in the clutter of our lives. A purse works well for this, or a designated spot (like a drawer or basket) in your home or workplace serves nicely as an easy access point for glasses. This option will take discipline because let’s face it – when we are sitting watching a movie on our couch with our glasses, most of us will not think to get up and place these items back – but some of us will and this suggestion can work well.

Buy more than one pair of glasses and then see suggestion number 1 above

This is the option that I personally work with and to be honest, so far so good. I have multiple pairs of reading glasses and I keep a pair in almost every room in my house, a pair in my car, a pair in my purse…you see the trend. This way, I have a pair available to me whenever I need them. They are usually inexpensive also, so if you break a pair or accidentally leave them somewhere it is no skin off your nose. “But doesn’t this multiple pair option create clutter you ask?” I find that it doesn’t, as long as you have little places to put them that are out of the way – on top of a book on your coffee table or in an already existing bowl or basket – we usually have gathering hubs in our homes and glasses can easily be incorporated into these things. They don’t take up much space and their usefulness is worth having many pairs around.

The common theme for both of these options is to keep your glasses in the same spot, whether you have one pair or multiple pairs. This requires discipline because it is very easy to misplace these items and for the same reason why they are easy to house discreetly in multiple places, this makes them equally easy to lose and misplace. A good friend of mine once taught me that when I am staying at a hotel or resort to always put my room key or card back in the same place every time.

For somebody who used to lose at least one of these keys almost immediately, this has been an amazing suggestion that I always use now. For items that we need, whether it be for seeing or something else, keeping them available and clutter free is more than important so give these suggestions a try – SEE what happens!
