AuthorMom Outnumbered

Hi!
My name is Kerri Green;
Wife to Justin, and mother to four highly entertaining daughters
-Alena, Chloe, Tessa, and Paige.
I am an artist, a writer, a daycare provider,
a lover of people, a believer that there is humor and beauty in all things,
and the author of Mom Outnumbered;
a blog about real family life, and my observations of it.
My goal is to make people laugh,
to be there for them when they cry,
and most importantly,
to let them know that they are not at all alone in this up and down world.
I live with my family in Sebastopol California, and I am opening the window into our life.
So welcome!
Come in.
Sit down.
Just please don’t mind the mysterious wet spots.

Dear Grieving Friend

Dear Grieving Friend, I know you’re up with me tonight, staring at the ceiling, wondering if it will ever end. I know you’re reminding yourself to keep on breathing; Hand on your abdomen to make sure it is so. I know your mind is replaying all you...

GrEeN fAmiLy HoMEskulE

When the fall of 2020 came, rather than risk all those dreaded zooms again, I pulled my youngest out of her school and have since been homeschooling her instead. In the beginning I thought it would be more temporary, because, let’s face it, I know...

The Black Oak

It was her 15th birthday. We drove out to Sonoma to spend the day, passing through vineyards, and the shadows of trees; Their light flickering, as if the whole earth shared a pulse. She had only asked to bring her boyfriend and his mom along. She...

Bald and in the Dark

Sometimes in life you live out a story you’re sure you will never be able to forget. For Christmas, all my husband, Justin, and son-in-law, Aaron, wanted were tattoo gift certificates. I thought those would be easy enough gifts, and, thankfully...

On What We Overcame

It feels like this cycle has become our way: She does well, she is smiling big, she talks freely about her day, but then the tendrils of anxiety start to edge out of the dark cracks, and try, once again, to ruin everything. Before long we are back...

A Mom at Your Bedside

Yes, it’s a new year, but it has been a worn-thin last couple of days. Keep going, keep doing, act like I can handle everything. So many emails from the school, jolting along in a covid test pick-up lane, hearing, “What’s the name of your student?”...

A Christmastime Calf

I cannot exactly say that I am surprised. One of my very first memories is of the time our pet racoon got out of his cage, and roamed free. I was probably only a toddler then, but have a very vivid memory of watching it grab a banana for itself and...

Glitter and Oats

I had asked her to come to have someone to talk to that didn’t only want to talk about details of what their coins bought on their video game. My friend, Lisa, sat next to me in the recliner. I hadn’t even gotten myself dressed that day. She jumped...

When the Quiet Hours Come

I saw a meme the other day that said, “It’s almost time to spend three days in the kitchen so the kids can eat this:” It then showed a picture of a single dinner roll. I laughed, and passed it on, knowing it was true. It garnered many likes from all...
