AuthorMom Outnumbered

Hi!
My name is Kerri Green;
Wife to Justin, and mother to four highly entertaining daughters
-Alena, Chloe, Tessa, and Paige.
I am an artist, a writer, a daycare provider,
a lover of people, a believer that there is humor and beauty in all things,
and the author of Mom Outnumbered;
a blog about real family life, and my observations of it.
My goal is to make people laugh,
to be there for them when they cry,
and most importantly,
to let them know that they are not at all alone in this up and down world.
I live with my family in Sebastopol California, and I am opening the window into our life.
So welcome!
Come in.
Sit down.
Just please don’t mind the mysterious wet spots.

Look Up

The bell on the door rang as we entered Screamin’ Mimi’s – our small town’s ice cream shop. “Banana splits for dinner,” I had declared, and for once no one complained about my meal plan. The girls all chose their ice cream flavors, and after I...

That Time I Banned Fun

It was a long week. Busy, and loud, tied up with the nice little bow of my dog chewing through our lives Hungry Caterpillar style. She showed no prejudice of item. Sheepskin slippers, my daughter’s new glasses, a favorite baseball hat, and last but...

Where Hope Grows

Nearly 14 years ago, when Justin and I first got married, we lived in a tiny house downtown, nestled in a neighborhood that was a treasure box full of perfect craftsman homes far beyond what we could afford. Many times we would go for walks in the...

The Unexpected

I have some friends who are adopting. Once their home-study was done, the agency reminded them that it could take a very long time to be picked by a birth-mother, so it was best to not get their hopes up. 4 weeks after that conversation, they got a...

The Elephant Mamas

Over a year ago I read a post by one of my top favorite writers and speakers, Jen Hatmaker that I’ll never forget. This post was about a behavior of female elephants, and how when one mama elephant is giving birth, the other female elephants will...

The Cup We Fill

About a week ago, our cat, Ozzy, came in from being outside overnight with two large chunks missing out of his back. A message to a friend suggested he’d possibly been snatched up then dropped by an owl. He was bleeding and obviously in pain, so I...

Becoming George Banks

My oldest daughter is getting married. For months now I have been planning, conceptualizing, and pinning things to Pinterest boards. I have vacillated through various emotional stages, as mothers of daughters do in times like…..well, ALL of...

Dark Corners

It was late when I pulled up to the grocery store. I’m always forgetting at least one thing. One particular cashier loves to yell out, “Just couldn’t stay away, huh?” I slung my purse over my shoulder and was walking, looking down, when a voice from...
