AuthorMom Outnumbered

Hi!
My name is Kerri Green;
Wife to Justin, and mother to four highly entertaining daughters
-Alena, Chloe, Tessa, and Paige.
I am an artist, a writer, a daycare provider,
a lover of people, a believer that there is humor and beauty in all things,
and the author of Mom Outnumbered;
a blog about real family life, and my observations of it.
My goal is to make people laugh,
to be there for them when they cry,
and most importantly,
to let them know that they are not at all alone in this up and down world.
I live with my family in Sebastopol California, and I am opening the window into our life.
So welcome!
Come in.
Sit down.
Just please don’t mind the mysterious wet spots.

The Stand-Alone Rose

Tessa climbed in bed beside me this morning saying she was not feeling well. Dark circles under her eyes. A sense of sadness on her face. And I didn’t really wonder why. She and I have been struggling so much lately. The one most like me, at 14...

You Can’t Take Us Anywhere

It is 72 days until my first grandbaby is due. (But who’s counting, right?) My daughter, Alena, who is expecting was being thrown a shower by her church, and she invited me and her sisters to come partake in the celebration. Right from the start I...

The Nest

We’ve always called it her “nest;” The corner of the couch, partially hidden behind the Monstera leaves. She is known to sit there for hours, playing, drawing, staring at her screen. She has since she was much smaller. It is obvious it is a comfort...

The Sphinx Gate

Ah, Middle School. So we meet again. This is now my fourth rodeo, and you would think I would be a pro at this, but, as if right on cue, here I am being thrown off the bull again. To any observing bystander, it would probably appear as nothing much...

Details Unseen

I finished the painting I’ve been working on in the nursery today. I have my very first grandbaby on the way. Decorating has always been in my wheelhouse. I always get called on to help complete artistic projects, and add my flare to things. While...

Magical Being

In the eleventh hour of summer, my daughter Chloe decided she wanted to switch high schools. Knowing the immense troubles she had faced at her previous one, I was willing to at least make an effort to do it for her. After emails to multiple...

Wild Wild Wisps

As many people have reported, following Covid, I started losing my hair. Add to this a splash of Anemia, to make matters worse. (I can’t just have one kind of fun, after all) I have been battling this for over a year. Once I had spent months on...

When The Tears Won’t Stop

The moment my daughter Tessa was first placed on my chest after her birth I cried so much, I can hardly explain it. My husband snapped a picture of me in that moment, and I can still hear my mom saying a pitying, confused, and very Southern...

Moss Green Colored Velvet tuffted couch

Moss Green Velvet

All it took was one short glance at a moss green velvet couch on my phone screen. Someone in a group I follow for decor inspiration online had just seen it for sale and was asking the group what they all think. That couch, an ultimate object of...

We’re Winging It

We leave for our annual camping trip tomorrow. My friend Amanda and I leave our husbands at home and take our kids to the local KOA. It is a tradition we have had for many years. This year, however, there is something different: We are taking my...
