What is this blog about? Well, it's a general blog, but it is also a very specific blog. If you get that
reference, you get a gold star! I have been a public relations professional and writer of press
releases for more than 20 years—primarily in the booze biz. I decided to do some writing for
fun and embrace the humor that gets me through most days. Hopefully it will make you
chuckle—or at least smile. I’m a certified crazy magnet, and more than a little nutty myself, so
buckle up. Also, I have two vices—profanity and red wine/whiskey. You’ve been warned.
It should also be noted, that I’m a HUGE Bob & Sheri fan. I’ve been a listener for more than 20
years. This opportunity is a dream come true and it may have made me cry. That being said, I
cry at everything.
If you are into booze, dogs, food and/or knitting, hit me up on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter
(although I’m terrible at Twitter and it scares me) @kyspiritsgal. You can also find all my
previous blog posts at www.kyspiritsgal.com.

A Tale of Two Light Sabers

My bestie and I are firm believers that you have to find joy and happiness in the little things in life. We talk about it on the regular. Life, at least ours, just doesn’t give you a ton of big shit to get excited about. Enjoy what you can. Enter...

Simple Joy

I love to cook. It is one of my favorite things. Perhaps only second to eating. In the evening, pouring myself a generous glass of red wine and making dinner is my favorite part of the day. If I were to pick a favorite type of cuisine, it would...

And What Is It You Do

It is safe to say most kids have no idea what their parents do for a living, nor do they care, until it might be useful to them. Sure, there are cool job exceptions like firefighter, nurse, teacher and lion tamer, but kids really don’t care about...

Talkin’ Bout My Generation

A lot of Gen X-related stuff has been showing up on my social media as of late. I’m not going to lie; I thoroughly enjoy it. It is very music-heavy and what’s not to love about the music of the 80s and 90s? The correct answer is nothing. It was...

I’m Not Fat, I’m 51

I’m so done with obsessing about my weight. I’m tired of thinking about how I look all the damn time. I’m exhausted from being embarrassed about how my body has changed. I’m fifty-fucking-one, not 31. I have to stop this. I know I’m not alone. I had...

This One’s For You

My sisters and I took our mom to see Barry Manilow for her birthday last week. It was my mom’s fifth time seeing him, but my first. This is kind of surprising because I have been a huge fan my whole life. In fact, Barry is the first musician I can...

Team Work Makes the Dream Work

I recently received a text from one of my favorite humans that read, “Potluck Sunday?” I responded with an exuberant, “Yes!” My friend regularly has wonderful gatherings at her home and is kind enough to include our crazy family. She and her 16-year...

Outside My Comfort Zone

News flash: I’m an anxious person. I battle my anxiety daily. This struggle oftentimes keeps me from doing things—things I would probably enjoy. However, there are certain opportunities that present themselves which make me put on my big girl...

Ready for the Apocalypse

I’m like my granny in many ways. I’m a little bit crazy. I’m definitely set in my ways. I’m an excellent cook. I have a questionable sense of humor. I love my family and I hoard groceries. My granny practically had a general store in her basement...
