What is this blog about? Well, it's a general blog, but it is also a very specific blog. If you get that
reference, you get a gold star! I have been a public relations professional and writer of press
releases for more than 20 years—primarily in the booze biz. I decided to do some writing for
fun and embrace the humor that gets me through most days. Hopefully it will make you
chuckle—or at least smile. I’m a certified crazy magnet, and more than a little nutty myself, so
buckle up. Also, I have two vices—profanity and red wine/whiskey. You’ve been warned.
It should also be noted, that I’m a HUGE Bob & Sheri fan. I’ve been a listener for more than 20
years. This opportunity is a dream come true and it may have made me cry. That being said, I
cry at everything.
If you are into booze, dogs, food and/or knitting, hit me up on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter
(although I’m terrible at Twitter and it scares me) @kyspiritsgal. You can also find all my
previous blog posts at www.kyspiritsgal.com.

Road-tripping

My daughter is a senior in high school. Starting in spring break of her sophomore year, we began touring colleges. It has continued for the last two years. In that time, we have looked at 10 schools in eight different states and one in Canada. We...

Do the Work

In a recent session with my therapist, he said, “I like our sessions, Angela. You put in the work.” This perplexed me. Do people pay this much for therapy and not put in the work? Apparently so, according to my doc. Crazy. Ha! See what I did there...

Into the Woods

Over the last year or so I have developed a bit of an obsession. It started with people climbing Mt. Everest. Crazy. However, it has evolved and now includes thru-hiking and all great feats involving walking. Lucky for me there is no shortage of...

Murder: The Tie That Binds Us

I’ve lost track of how many damn streaming services I now subscribe to. The worst part is, I watch very little TV. However, in the event I really do want to watch something it seems like it is always on a service I don’t have. So, I subscribe and...

Listen to the Whole Story

Recently I was on the phone with one of my besties. The topic of conversation turned to music and we started listing our favorite albums. Notice I said albums. Yes, I’m old. I fear with music streaming we are losing the concept and art form that is...

Off The Grid

I recently did something very unlike me. I chose to take time off in the winter and just get away from it all. I normally reserve time off for warmer months, but I was kind of burnt out. I also realized I had not had a vacation where I did not do...

Order Amongst the Chaos

I talk a lot about books. They are one of my favorite things. I will deprive myself and/or my family of a lot of things, but never books. I remember vividly being in a bookstore when my husband and I were first married and in our mid-20s. There was...

You’re Gonna Go Far

Last year my daughter left home to finish her last two years of high school in a STEM academy at a university two hours away from us. I thought leaving her there for the first time would be the hardest thing I ever had to do. It was certainly tough...

Comfort Food

I’m from the south. Kentucky to be exact. I grew up on country cooking or as it is called nowadays, comfort food. I love it, honestly, I do. One bite of some creamed potatoes or a big pot of beef vegetable soup immediately takes me back to my...
