What is this blog about? Well, it's a general blog, but it is also a very specific blog. If you get that
reference, you get a gold star! I have been a public relations professional and writer of press
releases for more than 20 years—primarily in the booze biz. I decided to do some writing for
fun and embrace the humor that gets me through most days. Hopefully it will make you
chuckle—or at least smile. I’m a certified crazy magnet, and more than a little nutty myself, so
buckle up. Also, I have two vices—profanity and red wine/whiskey. You’ve been warned.
It should also be noted, that I’m a HUGE Bob & Sheri fan. I’ve been a listener for more than 20
years. This opportunity is a dream come true and it may have made me cry. That being said, I
cry at everything.
If you are into booze, dogs, food and/or knitting, hit me up on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter
(although I’m terrible at Twitter and it scares me) @kyspiritsgal. You can also find all my
previous blog posts at www.kyspiritsgal.com.

A Swiftie Over Fifty

It’s Saturday night. My husband is on the phone with a friend. I’m basically just killing time till I can go to bed without feeling like a total loser. Life after 50 is hard.  So, as I lay on the couch with a couple of dogs on me. I have Taylor...

Trying New Things

I love it that my daughter is adventurous and tries new things. Things I’m pretty sure she is going to hate, but she goes for it anyway. For the record I don’t tell her she is going to hate them, but as her mother, I know. A weekend camping was her...

The Worst Day of the Week

Monday gets a bad rap, folks. I generally don’t mind a Monday. Hopefully, I’m rested from the weekend and ready to get back at it. It is also nice to have something to discuss around the old water cooler at work. Mondays also seem to go by pretty...

The Hobo Update

I wrote here several months ago about a dog that turned up in our front yard while we were having some work done on a water leak. I opened the door. He came in and never left. Yes, Gus (I immediately named him) has made himself right at home. I did...

The Season of the Grad

‘Tis the season for all things graduation. We have attended multiple graduation parties for the children of our friends. They have been lovely. They have also made me feel like a total failure as a parent.  Why, you ask? Because we didn’t do shit...

Road Trip Playlist

The Traver family has jointly and carefully curated one of the most epic road trip playlists known to man. The even bigger accomplishment is that we all love it. It started last summer when we were in Montana. Brett had his phone plugged into the...

Reluctant Chefs

On a recent Saturday, I went with several of my knitting friends to a fiber festival about 90 minutes from where we live. What is a fibers festival, you ask? It’s a lot of damn yarn. Too much to possibly wrap your head around. I gave myself a budget...

Appreciation For a Good Day

Most days spent with my daughter are good. We enjoy each other’s company. We Never seem to run out of things to talk about. And, oh, how we laugh. Thank God she picked up our sense of humor. I don’t know what I would do if our girl weren’t funny...

My Favorite Day

Mother’s Day is my favorite day of the year. I love everything about it. I mean, hello! It’s a day all about me. What’s not to love? I anticipate this day every year. And make no mistakes, I get totally pissy when I am not cherished and pampered...
