What is this blog about? Well, it's a general blog, but it is also a very specific blog. If you get that
reference, you get a gold star! I have been a public relations professional and writer of press
releases for more than 20 years—primarily in the booze biz. I decided to do some writing for
fun and embrace the humor that gets me through most days. Hopefully it will make you
chuckle—or at least smile. I’m a certified crazy magnet, and more than a little nutty myself, so
buckle up. Also, I have two vices—profanity and red wine/whiskey. You’ve been warned.
It should also be noted, that I’m a HUGE Bob & Sheri fan. I’ve been a listener for more than 20
years. This opportunity is a dream come true and it may have made me cry. That being said, I
cry at everything.
If you are into booze, dogs, food and/or knitting, hit me up on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter
(although I’m terrible at Twitter and it scares me) @kyspiritsgal. You can also find all my
previous blog posts at www.kyspiritsgal.com.

Road Trip Playlist

The Traver family has jointly and carefully curated one of the most epic road trip playlists known to man. The even bigger accomplishment is that we all love it. It started last summer when we were in Montana. Brett had his phone plugged into the...

Reluctant Chefs

On a recent Saturday, I went with several of my knitting friends to a fiber festival about 90 minutes from where we live. What is a fibers festival, you ask? It’s a lot of damn yarn. Too much to possibly wrap your head around. I gave myself a budget...

Appreciation For a Good Day

Most days spent with my daughter are good. We enjoy each other’s company. We Never seem to run out of things to talk about. And, oh, how we laugh. Thank God she picked up our sense of humor. I don’t know what I would do if our girl weren’t funny...

My Favorite Day

Mother’s Day is my favorite day of the year. I love everything about it. I mean, hello! It’s a day all about me. What’s not to love? I anticipate this day every year. And make no mistakes, I get totally pissy when I am not cherished and pampered...

The Art of Self-Reflection

It has been said that we all have a book in us. I think this is true. If nothing else, we have the story of our lives. What more important story is there to tell? Opening up about your life to others is such a personal thing, but if done well with...

Zen and the Art of Cooking

I’m not one of these people who just eat to live. I totally live to eat. I love food. Good food is orgasmic to me. Nothing makes me happier than a good meal. Not only do I love to eat, but I also love to cook. Pouring myself a glass of wine and...

Ruin the Friendship

Let me start by saying, I’m not a Swiftie. If I’m being honest, I used to hate on her. Why? No good reason. I was just being difficult. I have great self-awareness. However, she has won me over. I’ve been listening to The Life of a Showgirl album on...

Taking a Spill

I was with my sister recently, and she reminded me it was the anniversary of the day I fell through her back deck. Yes, I went right through and was totally caught off guard. It was shocking, to say the least. Here’s the setup: I was staying with my...

Lies and Deceit for Fun

My daughter is 20 years old. I love this age. She is one of my best friends. However, I’m still ALWAYS in intense Momma Bear mode. This time of year, I really miss the Easter festivities. This is ridiculous, I realize. We are Buddhists, but I love...

Bleeding Kentucky Blue

From early on in my youth, I can remember curling up on the couch with my grandfather to watch the Kentucky Wildcats play basketball. It should be noted that while my Pa and I were watching the Cats, my Granny was cussing and passionately cheering...
