What is this blog about? Well, it's a general blog, but it is also a very specific blog. If you get that
reference, you get a gold star! I have been a public relations professional and writer of press
releases for more than 20 years—primarily in the booze biz. I decided to do some writing for
fun and embrace the humor that gets me through most days. Hopefully it will make you
chuckle—or at least smile. I’m a certified crazy magnet, and more than a little nutty myself, so
buckle up. Also, I have two vices—profanity and red wine/whiskey. You’ve been warned.
It should also be noted, that I’m a HUGE Bob & Sheri fan. I’ve been a listener for more than 20
years. This opportunity is a dream come true and it may have made me cry. That being said, I
cry at everything.
If you are into booze, dogs, food and/or knitting, hit me up on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter
(although I’m terrible at Twitter and it scares me) @kyspiritsgal. You can also find all my
previous blog posts at www.kyspiritsgal.com.

Eat, Pray, Love… Not

I realize as I enter into this blog post I might get slaughtered. I know there is a cult of women out there who love the book, Eat, Pray, Love. I’m sorry to report that I’m not one of those people. This book wore me the fuck out. To be fair there...

My People

We are surrounded by people every day. Sometimes that is good. Sometimes that is bad. It is particularly awesome to be surrounded by “your people.” Those are times to relish and really appreciate. I’m in the middle of a week with my people. I’m at...

The Early Bird…

I’m chronically early. I grew up in a house with a mother who believed if you were not 15 minutes early, you were late. I have carried this philosophy throughout my life. Usually, it is not a problem. My husband is very accommodating when it comes...

What’s Cooking?

As I have established on more than one occasion, I love books. That will never change—all books. Along with books for my reading pleasure, I also am obsessed with cookbooks. A good cookbook is like my porn. The pictures, the ingredient list, the...

Tree Hugger

I don’t have a lot of cool party tricks. I know a lot about bourbon from my years in the biz, but I tend to really geek out on that. People are interested in it or after about five minutes, you see their eyes glaze over. One of my more impressive...

Alone in the Woods

I’m not a person who lives in fear. Anxiety? Totally, but not exactly fear. I think I hold an average amount of fear for a woman. There is just so much to be afraid of as a woman. Show me most any woman and I’ll show you someone who does not want to...

Back to School

There is very little in this world I love more than back-to-school shopping. I loved it when my daughter, Josie, was little. I went into Walmart and found the list her teacher had carefully prepared for her students. Upping the ante, I love college...

Home Sweet Home

I’ve moved 13 times in my life. That is quite a few. I would like to stop at number 14. I’ve only dreaded moving a couple of times. Most often I have looked at it as an adventure and a chance for a new start. However, at 52 I’m ready to find a home...

Never Bored with Board Games

In my basement, I have two big shelves filled with board and card games. Everything from Yahtzee to Sorry! to Trivial Pursuit. There is no such thing as too many board games in my opinion. They have certainly provided hours of family fun and bonding...

My Magic Wands

Knitting is magic. Witchcraft. I’ve been knitting for a few years. I’m not good. I’m crazy slow. However, I keep picking back up my needles. I also try to surround myself with those who know what the hell they are doing and can help me. I just...
