Charlotte, NC – January 13, 2025 –
This morning, during the popular Bob & Sheri syndicated morning show, Bob Lacey announced his retirement on the air. Lacey has been on the air for four decades, including 32 years with partner Sheri Lynch. Bob & Sheri will continue with Lynch and the morning team, which includes Lamar Richardson,Max Sweeten, and Kary Bowser.“We knew this day was going to come, we just didn’t know it would be today,” explained Tony Garcia, Co-Founder of Now! Media, which syndicates Bob & Sheri.
“Knowing it was coming, we’ve done the research, and we’re prepared. The show is strong and will continue asBob & Sheri.”In making the on-air announcement, Lacey explained to Bob & Sheri listeners why now is the right time is. “I was listening to some promo on the air the other day on television, and it was some show business award thing, and they mentioned Jelly Roll, Bunny XO, Doja Cat, and Zendaya. I have absolutely no idea who those people are. If you do what I do, what we do, and you’re not familiar with Bunny XO, you need to find out about Bunny XO, but I just don’t want to at this… at this point in my life, I’m just going to be honest… I wish Bunny XO all the best. But at one point, you know, you start to sound a little foolish, and I don’t want to arrive at that point.”
“No one has worked harder and contributed more creativity, vision, and strategy than Bob,” stated Lynch. “Bob has earned the right to choose the timing of his retirement. I could not be more proud of him and honored to have been his partner. I’m weepy to see him go.”“We’ve always been a listener-first company and show,” added Garcia. “We gave Bob the decision and the space to make this announcement the way he wanted to. We remain as committed to our affiliates and our listeners as we’ve always been, and the show goes on. About Bob & Sheri:Bob & Sheri is syndicated via Now! So excited for Bob’s retirement. Grew up watching Bob on PM Magazine and listened to Bob & Sheri every morning on 107.9 and switched stations when they moved. Those two have such good chemistry and I will miss listening to them. He always makes me think of the romantic type sipping wine with his wife. I wish him all the best and I hope he enjoys his retirement. He is the best of the best!
My name is CJ. Yo BOB!!! Wow!! I was stunned to hear of your soon to be retirement. I just thought this was going to last forever, lol. I am happy for you as well, you deserve the best. I’ve been listening to you guys since 1992. I was 25 years old, trying to figure out my life, getting out on my own and you have been there through it all. It never failed, if I was having an issue, and boy did I have issues, there always seemed to be something that you guys would be discussing that would help me get through it. You’ve been a very large part of my life for so long now, I feel like you are family, both you and Sheri. As a matter of fact, if something comes up with my friends that you have addressed during a show, I will say “my friend Bob told me this or my friend Sheri told me that” etc. In “CJ-land” we are pals! I can’t imagine what it will be like to not hear your voice everyday. I want to thank you for being there, even though you never knew you were. I’ll really miss you and wish you and your family the best. I’ll miss all the updates about your girls. I feel like I watched them grow up on the radio. One more thing Bob, now that you are retiring your will have more time to think about “WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT HEZBOLLAH”, what are you going to do about HEZBOLLAH Bob!!! That whole bit cracked me up. Anyway, all my best my friend and have fun. Maybe Sheri will let you come back as a guest host here and there. Thanks for everything! I’ll miss ya! (I tried to do this as a call in but I couldn’t get the microphone thingy on the app to send my message)
I had feeling that this day was coming, as Bob wasn’t as “present” in certain things as he once was, but it’s still a very hard pill to swallow! Now certain questions come to mind, like: What will happen to the Book of Bob?, Who will tell the listeners how great New England is? and where to find the best pizza or lobster? This of course isn’t anything we all can’t live without but certainly will miss about the B.O.B as Sheri says! I haven’t personally listened to the show as long as some have but in my time of listening I can honestly say I have not laughed, cried or smiled more than I have with this show. I will continue to listen and miss Bob along the way. Bob sharing your life with us has been such a joy and we have felt all the emotions with you. We have enjoyed the antics, laughter, joy and highlights of your world. I am so thankful that you are following your heart and letting it lead you where you need to be. So farewell friend, enjoy the next chapter and most of all……GOOD LUCK TO YA!!!!!!! 🙂
I am truly sad to see you go Bob ! I have been a long time listener on 98.5 The Cat. I remember when you and Sheri started and have met you many times in person. I was the one who gave you the picture of the” Athens Lighthouse” many years ago. Who could forget the car in the pool right down the road from me. Have a great and healthy retirement !
I have been listening for 31 years. I remember the jingle stick, and when Bob’s previous wife wouldn’t let him keep his favorite chair, and when she insisted on using fabric softener sheets even though Bob was allergic to them (I now know they are full 23 or so toxic chemicals), and his longing for Maine Lobster. I remember when Sheri was into men wearing flannel shirts, when she made excuses for the first husband looking at other women in public, and then finally when that same husband was ” too good to deliver pizzas”. Bob, you are still so handsome; you are the Dick Clark of radio and your voice sounds like a 30 year olds.I loved you guys and will continue to do so. Bob and Sheri, you will always be each other’s Gold Friend ( P.S.) I remember Bob on PM Magazine. Quite the hottie with the great voice!
Congrats and thank you, Bob. Much like the other posts I’ve been listening 32 years – wake-up station, morning commute, and now morning programming most days. You and Sheri have been a great combo. Met you both once in late 90s for X-files film tickets at HT Morrocroft and that was cool. Also recall you on PM Mag. Wishing you all the best in your retirement.
Adding Lamar was brilliant and I’m sure the show will continue to be great – maybe just missing a key ingredient. Cheers!
Congratulations on your retirement Bob. I hope you and Mary have tons of fun! I have listened to you and Sheri for over 20 years. You two have made me laugh and cry. I enjoyed your banter and felt your pain over those years. I’m happy that you guys all seem to be doing well and I will sure miss hearing your thoughts. I hope you still visit with your friends after your retirement. Blessings to you all!
My morning commute will not be the same… I think it’s time for me to retire well. I’ve listened for more than a couple decades now.. through station changes and so many life changes ( both you and Sheri as well as myself). You have provided a lot of laughs .. and maybe even some insight. Enjoy your retirement Bob
Long time listener here- I think I started listening in the mid 90s, as I was driving back and forth getting my master’s degree. I am heartbroken, but I recognize Bob has given us, the audience, so much of his life, he deserves to retire and enjoy finding his new routines and joys. But he will be so missed.
As a long time listener, I am struck by how your delivery has changed. This, in my opinion, is true for both Bob and Sheri. You were both louder, more enthusiastic in your earlier radio shows. It is quite evident in your best of shows. Whereas now, you are much more relaxed and confident- still as witty! I know the show will go on, and I will continue to be a loyal listener. I do enjoy Sheri, Max, Lamar, and Doc! But, Bob’s easy segues and his quick tie ins will be missed.
I would love to hear Bob give us a run down of all of his jobs. I know he had a gig in a small radio station up north and he spent time working in a pest control company. I am curious how he landed the PM magazine show. (I remember it well!) I also am curious as to why he made the move back to radio after having such a successful TV gig. (I am thankful he did!)
Thank you for so many laughs. My family makes fun of me for telling them what ‘my friends Bob and Sheri said’. I wish you only the best in your retirement. You gave me years of laughter and tales to recount!
Bob. you and Sheri have been a part of my life since I was a child. I will miss your voice, I wish you all the best!
I can see you calling in every so often to have some fun with the show. 🤜🤛
Bob I will truly miss you. I have listened to you my whole adult life and you have carried me to work every day! I will continue to be a listener of the show of course as the rest of the team are like friends too. I have thoroughly enjoyed the tons of entertainment over the years. I have laughed and cried with you through the years. I hope you enjoy your time with Mary and you have many wonderful adventures! You will be missed!!
Hi Bob, Sheri and the gang!
I want to say congratulations to Bob on a job EXTREMELY WELL DONE and have the best time in retirement!!! You will absolutely be missed dearly. I discovered your show 5 years ago when my radio station 98.9 The BRZE in Tallahassee started offering your show. I will tell you that I have been listening to radio my whole life, but your show is unique and so amazingly special. You all have been my “passenger” and have become my “best friend” on my commute to work every day which is about 45 minutes from 7:15 – 8 am EST. The ying and yang that you and Sheri have is just so hilarious and heart warming❤️. I’ve never felt so connected to radio show before. Thank you for the laughs and memories from the bottom of my heart❤️
All my love,
Kim English
Thank you Bob. All the best to you and yours.
Bob, I’ve only gotten to know you for a couple of years in Tallahassee on My Star 98.9, but will miss you! Wishing you the best in retirement! I know Sheri and Lamar and the team will carry on but have some big shoes to fill.
I have never called your show. But when I lived in an area that I could listen to it I’ve probably been listening on and off for 30 years. Bob, you will be thoroughly missed. You have allowed yourself to be made fun of in a fun way. It takes a special person for that. I wish you the very best. Stay well and I hope you pop in to say hi once in a while.
Been listening to yall for many years on the way into work. While I hate changes everything eventually comes to an end. Happy Retirement Bob!!
Beyond grateful! 💌
