This seems to be the time of year where we start pondering, imagining and perhaps looking forward to some much needed travel. All kinds of ideas start floating in our minds, and it’s sometimes hard to figure out just what and how exactly to make these dreams become reality. Why don’t we go through a few ideas to help create ease and yes, travel plans that are not cluttered!

Flights

Some of you may be very well versed on how to make excellent flight arrangements, but some of us get confused and bogged down in this process. My best advice when it comes to creating clutter free air travel is to try and book as far in advance as you can, so you can secure the flights that you want. None of us want to be stuck with long layovers and badly times flights, so the earlier you book, the more options will be available to you. I always try to make it simple with as few stop overs as possible, so that I’m not harried and bothered with excess boarding passes and places to be; these things can start your vacation off frenetically and who wants that?!

Other than work trips, take the trips you want!

Travel is expensive and time consuming so it pays to take the time to consider and take trips that we really want to, and not ones we feel we need to. Travelling should bring us joy, and that joy gets diminished if we start to feel we are traveling places that we really don’t want to, so choose wisely. If any and all trips bring you joy then go for it; remember, this is about joy and ease and making smart clutter-free decisions.

Sometimes less is more

Once you have booked those flights and are now well into making your travel arrangements, it may be smart to start thinking about how you want your vacation to roll. If you are heading on a two week beach vacation, there may not be much to think about (amazing). But let’s assume for a moment you are planning a 3 week trip to Italy: so much to do and see and aaaahhh! How do I even start…I think it is important when you are planning to visit a huge country (like Italy) that you choose a few areas to visit and really allow yourself the time to get to know those places. It may be tempting to try and visit multiple areas, but I think you may find yourself exhausted and depleted with this kind of cluttered trip. There are many online tools available that are helpful in at least getting you started on what kind of itinerary makes sense in a 3 week time span (or 2 or 4 depending on your plans), and I urge you to check them out when creating your trip plans. Taking the time to think things through beforehand can really help to create a stress free and fun holiday without feeling too busy and frantic – declutter that itinerary!

On a last note I always abide by these words: KEEP IT SIMPLE! Travel is complicated enough without making it even more complicated with too many logistics so remember to keep your plans streamlined and simple so you can have a stress free and wonderful time!
