  • My father who currently lives with my mother in our home country, Japan still working at age 77 part time. I received his work ethics and dedication to work hard. He is very funny and sweetest father ever!

  • Hi,
I am writing to share my dad story. When I was 15 and my sister was 8 we lost our mom suddenly. While we were suddenly motherless, my dad was suddenly a single dad. No body ever gave him credit for just being able to jump in and taking over the mom duties. I never thought about it until I got older about how much he had to deal with all by himself. All I ever thought about was ME! LOL! At 15, that is what we do as teenagers, nothing else matters but the teenager. I didn’t know how to understand what others were going through not even my little sister. My grandmother lost a child (an adult child but still) I never thought about that either. Well, my dad took over like it was nothing but it wasn’t until later that I found out how much he was worried and saddened over losing my mom. He never showed it. He spoke often with my grandmother and that is how I found out all the things he went through to make things go smoothly for us two kids. He was and still is the best. He will be turning 95 years old in August. He lives with my sister in Virginia and spends a few weeks a year with me in Florida to give my sister some respite. Last week he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. We are preparing ourselves for the future with him possibly forgetting his present. As of right now he does remember the past but the now is a bit of a problem. He still knows us but we know that this may change as time passes. Bottom line, he was there when we needed him most and we will remain with him until the end. His name is LCDR Joseph Rutzler, USN Retired. I would be glad to send you a picture but am not sure how to here in this message. If you would like one just shoot me an email and I can attach a pic.

  • Hi all,
My father is my hero. He had to be both parents to me and my sister when my mom didn’t take care of us. He would come home from work and she would be gone and we would be crying, hungry and dirty in the crib. If I was in need of anything he was there for me.
He taught me the value of hard work when he took me to the construction job site (I have a great picture of us).
    I owe him my life.
