I would like to nominate Mara Wise for the work she is doing in her community. She had vision that she put into action and has been blessed ever since. Mara is an 18 year-old young lady who is in her senior year of high school. Mara has organized a toy drive for the community around her local church and nearby school in Lewistown, PA. Post cards were mailed or put in power packs for parents to attend the event. Mara has encouraged church members to donate toys or make a monetary donation so that she can buy toys for neighborhood kids. Mara has continuously shopped and organized the event that will happen on December 14th. She has baked cookies in preparation for the big day. Mara has recruited fellow Key Club members from her local high school to help with the event. Students will welcome parents, offer cookies and hot chocolate/coffee and guide parents through the toy stations. They are also offering a gift wrapping station for parents to take advantage of. Mara’s goal was to show the love of God to local families who could benefit from the event during hard times. She is spreading joy to our local community.
I would like to acknowledge a special Kindergarten teacher to be celebrated! Not only does she teach kindergarten (some with extra special needs) but she also coaches the high cheer team. Her name is Whitley Bernhard. She works so hard every day making her kindergarten team and kids feel strong, smart, and seen. Her high school cheerleaders adore her and she “shows up and stands up ” for them in many ways. Please let he know how special and valued she is to her whole team. Thank you for your kindness.
having my daughter on Christmas Day. This was the best present ever.
My most magical moment was when I was a little girl. My parents and siblings use to visit my grandparents in Fillmore, CA.. I remember the fake silver Christmas tree, it had a multi color disk and it used to rotate and reflect the colors on the tree. I thought that it was the coolest thing.
This morning, I pulled up to Pender High school in Burgaw NC to drop off my son who is a sophomore. I heard my son Joesiah chuckle and under his breath say oh that’s cool. To look up and see Santa greeting all the students as they walk in school. Later I found out it was the principal. It was awesome to see a high school Principal spreading the magic of Christmas with his students especially because it is finals week. If I win anything, please send the winnings to the principal he truly deserves it. Merry Christmas y’all

I would like to nominate our Program Director of the Recovery Center at ASAC, Kelly Reitzler. Kelly has a passion for helping people and the work she does with the patients at ASAC is truly something to be aspired by others. She always has a smile on her face, she does not know how to do anything half way. She gives 100 percent every day to the people she works with the patients she serves and to her staff. I am blessed to know her and the hundreds of people who’s lives she touched and continues to touch is such a blessing. I am proud to be one her staff and cannot express how grateful I am to have her in my life and I know I speak the same for everyone that knows her personally or professionally.
I would like to nominate my dear friend, Kara Jefferson. She is the founder of Sole Stepping which is a nonprofit that provides shoes to students in our area. They not only provide shoes and socks to all of the children in the school (so those who need them are not singled out) but each child is fitted in their shoes and told how important and loved they are. My family have been friends with Kara and her family for years and we are always trying to find ways to help support her work with the children in our community.
