Hello!
I am Theresa Martinez-Shapiro;
Wife to Robert. Founder of Flexible Being. A Master Reiki Therapist, Certified Oracle Guide, Spiritual Mentor/Guide, Intuitive Empath, Coach, and Educator. I am a fur mom to 3 cats and 1 dog – Sonny, Patches, Ryelee, and Winnie. We currently live and practice in Stockton, California. We operate three businesses – Shapiro Holistic Health and Chiropractic, Fusion Health APC, and Synergy Health MSO, where we seek to improve and change the lives of our patients and those we have the privilege of crossing paths with.

My healing and mentoring journey began around 5 years old when I discovered that I was put on this planet to help others. I knew I was different, unique, and gifted. I did not see the world the same way everyone else did, and recognized I was meant to do so much more. I began to research, spending a lot of time reading & asking a lot of questions to anyone that wanted to share stories about their life experiences. I am a dreamer and had a unique relationship with the dream world. My very real, vivid & lucid dreams began turning into out-of-body experiences and unexplained occurrences. I began doing my own dream interpretations to look for patterns & a new way of deciphering life. Family members were part of many different religions, so I was educated in Catholicism, Buddhism, Metaphysics, and Native American culture & beliefs. Along the way, I took up multiple mentors that cultivated my growth and expansion of my gifts, allowing me to focus on my potential and purpose.

As an adult, coworkers were unloading their life stories, internal secrets, and things that had not been shared or even spoken out loud. I began to share those experiences with my aunt & Reiki Master/Teacher, Carmen. In 2012, Carmen told me, “I think you are ready to walk the path I always knew you were meant to walk”. That saying began my obsessive journey into Reiki, Spirituality, Psychology, Intuition and Psychic gifts, Meditation and Mindfulness, Past Lives, Consciousness, Energy Medicine, Mysteries of the Universe, Moon and Sun cycles, Astrology, Numerology, Oracle Cards, Shamanism, & so much more.

My journey has helped me to assist patients, clients, families, and friends discover who they have been, who they are, and who they want to become. I am expanding my reach and educating others by authoring Musings of a Flexible Being, and I look forward to sharing my journey with you.

Thank you!

When a new client recently told me, “I’m a mess. I know all of my chakras are blocked,” I smiled gently. Not because she was wrong, but because she was already tuning in to something deeper: awareness.

Our energy centers—known as chakras—are like spinning wheels of light that reflect how life force moves through us physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. When that energy slows, stagnates, or becomes overloaded, we feel it as imbalance.

But here’s the good news: being aware that something feels “off” is the first step toward realignment.

 The Lifespan of Chakra Development

Our chakras don’t all turn on at once. The first energy center—the Root Chakra—comes online at birth, helping us anchor into the physical body and feel safe in this world. From there, each chakra awakens every seven years, shaping the next phase of our development:

  • 0–7 years: Root Chakra – Safety, security, and trust in the world.
  • 7–14 years: Sacral Chakra – Creativity, pleasure, and emotional flow.
  • 14–21 years: Solar Plexus – Confidence, identity, and willpower.
  • 21–28 years: Heart Chakra – Love, compassion, and connection.
  • 28–35 years: Throat Chakra – Authentic expression and truth.
  • 35–42 years: Third Eye Chakra – Intuition, insight, and inner vision.
  • 42–49 years: Crown Chakra – Spiritual connection and unity.

This rhythm continues in cycles. Once the crown completes, the next seven-year cycle begins again at the root—but this time at a higher octave of awareness. Each phase offers an invitation to revisit old patterns, release what no longer fits, and evolve into greater balance.

Mapping Your Energy Story

Each chakra holds the memory of the years it first awakened. When you reflect on your life through this seven-year lens, you may start to see where certain “kinks in the chain” developed.

I often encourage clients to map their life in this way—by noting major events and emotions that stand out.

  • Did something shake your sense of safety around age six or seven, when your Root Chakra was still forming?
  • Were there experiences between 14 and 21 that challenged your sense of self or personal power (Solar Plexus)?
  • Did heartbreak or loss surface around 28–35, during the Heart Chakra phase, causing emotional walls to rise?

When we align age with experience, our story begins to make energetic sense. We start to see why certain patterns repeat, where energy got stuck, and how we can free it. This isn’t about blame—it’s about awareness. The moment we recognize when and where our flow changed, transformation begins.

 Energy and the Body

Because each chakra corresponds to specific organs and regions of the body, physical symptoms often mirror energetic imbalances. The body speaks the language of energy. When we ignore what we feel emotionally or spiritually, the body finds ways to bring our attention back.

For example:

  • Root Chakra: Legs, feet, hips, and lower back—issues with grounding and security.
  • Sacral Chakra: Reproductive organs, bladder, lower abdomen—linked to creativity, pleasure, and emotional flow.
  • Solar Plexus Chakra: Stomach, pancreas, liver, digestion—connected to confidence, control, and self-worth.
  • Heart Chakra: Lungs, chest, arms, heart—reflecting love, grief, and the ability to give and receive.
  • Throat Chakra: Throat, thyroid, jaw, mouth—tied to communication, truth, and self-expression.
  • Third Eye Chakra: Eyes, brain, sinuses—linked to perception, clarity, and inner knowing.
  • Crown Chakra: Head, nervous system, pineal gland—connected to consciousness and divine connection.

I often encourage clients to notice recurring health challenges and ask, Which chakra might this relate to? A person experiencing stomach problems, for example, may be facing an imbalance in the Solar Plexus or Sacral Chakra—areas connected to self-trust, creativity, and emotional digestion.

When we approach symptoms energetically, we complement physical healing with emotional and spiritual understanding. Sometimes, the body simply wants to be heard in a new way.

The Rainbow Within

If you’ve ever looked at chakra imagery, you may have noticed something familiar—the colors follow the sequence of a rainbow, but in reverse order.

The Root Chakra glows red, grounding us to the earth. Moving upward, the Sacral shines orange, the Solar Plexus radiates yellow, the Heart opens into green, the Throat expresses blue, the Third Eye deepens into indigo, and the Crown blossoms into violet or white light.

Together, these colors form a spectrum of energy that bridges the physical and the spiritual. The Root grounds us in earthly reality, while the Crown connects us to divine consciousness—completing the full arc of human experience.

When we align our chakras, we’re essentially allowing the rainbow within us to shine again—from root to crown, earth to sky.

The Hidden Chakra of Self-Love

One chakra that isn’t always mentioned on traditional charts is the Pink Chakra—the higher octave of the Heart Chakra. While the Heart is most often shown as green, many practitioners, myself included, recognize a gentle pink overlay that represents self-love.

The green layer reflects how we extend love outward—to others, to nature, and to the world. It’s compassion in motion.
The pink layer, however, turns that same light inward. It’s the frequency of acceptance, tenderness, forgiveness, and belonging to oneself.

When both colors are active, the heart becomes a bridge—balancing giving and receiving, external care and internal nourishment. Too much outward focus without inward love can leave us depleted. Likewise, loving ourselves without connecting outward can lead to isolation.

Together, the pink and green frequencies remind us that love begins within and radiates outward. Self-love is not separate from spiritual love—it’s the foundation that allows every other chakra to stay in harmony.

The Seven Chakras in Motion

Each chakra corresponds to a theme of life and consciousness:

  1. Root (Muladhara) – Grounding, survival, security.
Balanced: Steady, safe, connected to the body.
    Blocked: Fear, anxiety, instability.
  2. Sacral (Svadhisthana) – Creativity, emotions, pleasure.
Balanced: Joyful, open to intimacy and creation.
    Blocked: Guilt, shame, emotional numbness.
  3. Solar Plexus (Manipura) – Confidence, purpose, will.
    Balanced: Empowered, motivated, self-assured.
    Blocked: Self-doubt, power struggles, fatigue.
  4. Heart (Anahata) – Love, compassion, forgiveness.
    Balanced: Kind, open, accepting.
Blocked: Grief, bitterness, fear of vulnerability.
  5. Throat (Vishuddha) – Expression, authenticity, truth.
    Balanced: Clear communication, honesty.
Blocked: Fear of speaking, feeling unheard.
  6. Third Eye (Ajna) – Intuition, clarity, perspective.
    Balanced: Trust in inner guidance.
    Blocked: Confusion, overthinking, mental fog.
  7. Crown (Sahasrara) – Connection, consciousness, oneness.
    Balanced: Peace, spiritual awareness.
Blocked: Disconnection, cynicism, loss of faith.

Healing Is a Flow, Not a Fix

Our chakras aren’t light switches that flip on or off—they ebb and flow with our life experiences. Sometimes they close to protect us; other times they open to help us expand. Healing doesn’t come from striving for perfection, but from listening to what each center is asking for.

When you say, “I’m a mess,” your energy is already speaking. It’s asking for attention, not judgment. It’s guiding you toward balance, wholeness, and flow.

Reflection Prompts

  • What age or life stage felt most challenging for me? Which chakra aligns with that time?
  • Where do I currently feel stuck or blocked?
  • What physical sensations or health challenges might be linked to those areas?
  • What would help me feel safe, creative, or expressive again?
  • Which chakra—or color—am I most drawn to right now?

Closing

Your chakras tell the story of your evolution—your courage, your lessons, your growth. When you trace the threads of your energy across time, you discover that even the moments of blockage were simply pauses in movement. Every experience has the potential to reopen your flow.

You are not a mess.
You are energy, learning how to move again.
