It’s Saturday night. My husband is on the phone with a friend. I’m basically just killing time till I can go to bed without feeling like a total loser. Life after 50 is hard.
So, as I lay on the couch with a couple of dogs on me. I have Taylor Swift cranked, well, cranked for me. Again, I’m over 50.
I’m new to the Swiftie Scene. I came around, not really on Taylor’s behalf. For a while, I actively disliked her and talked smack about her for no reason. Yes. I was one of “those” people
Admitting this as part of my road to recovery. Why did I have a change of heart? Two words: Travis Kelce. Folks, I’m a hopeless romantic. I’ve also been a Kansas City Chiefs fan for more than 30 years.
For much of his career, I thought Travis Kelce was a loon—but the best possible kind of loon. I was a magnet to the crazy and, in turn, Travis Kelce.
I started listening to the New Heights podcast and learned that Travis and his brother, Jason, a former center for the Philadelphia Eagles, were an absolute delight. Every Wednesday I was there for a new podcast. I’m a total 92 percenter (iykyk)!
In fact, I was a bit shocked when Travis took to New Heights with his confession of trying to get Taylor his digits on a friendship bracelet. This was at a concert in KC during her Eras tour. What was he thinking?
I had mixed emotions on this. I had been hating on Taylor for years, but my beloved tight end was smitten. Above all, I want Travis to be happy. He is my honey buns. My touchdown sweetie pie. Yes, I don’t think he is as crazy as I once suspected. He’s just a big ole golden retriever. Who in their right mind does that man not make smile!? He’s a fucking delight! And yes, is still a bit wacky.
However, I must confess, I’ve been totally devoted to their romance since the beginning. They are totes adorbs. No one wants them to go the distance more than this chick. The whole world needs this—no pressure Trav and Tay.
I have scoured the internet from her first Chiefs game to the fucking wedding! I have missed nothing. I know every sighting, and I live for them all.
The New Heights episode with Taylor was my all-time favorite. I have listened to the Life of A Showgirl album on constant repeat. I’ve done deep dives into her old stuff. I’m lying on the couch emerged in her voice and her stories.
Yes, I have given up hope of seeing the wedding ensembles. I’m okay with that. They deserve their privacy. Also, huge props for holding a wedding in the center of Manhattan, in Madison Square Gardens, with more than a thousand people in attendance and no one saying shit. That is a beautiful thing. Hats off!
As I continue to lie here and listen to Tay, I appreciate her more and more. What a damn talent. Her writing is amazing. I see why people are obsessed; hell, I may be one of them. The talent is hard to deny. However, more than that, she makes one of the good guys happy, Travis Kelce.
I wish Travis and Taylor the best forever. For some reason, I just feel they deserve it as much as any of the rest of us loons. Also, I don’t think my heart could make it if they split. It’s just too much. The world is hard. I need this win. Travis and Taylor forever!
