What is this blog about? Well, it's a general blog, but it is also a very specific blog. If you get that
reference, you get a gold star! I have been a public relations professional and writer of press
releases for more than 20 years—primarily in the booze biz. I decided to do some writing for
fun and embrace the humor that gets me through most days. Hopefully it will make you
chuckle—or at least smile. I’m a certified crazy magnet, and more than a little nutty myself, so
buckle up. Also, I have two vices—profanity and red wine/whiskey. You’ve been warned.
It should also be noted, that I’m a HUGE Bob & Sheri fan. I’ve been a listener for more than 20
years. This opportunity is a dream come true and it may have made me cry. That being said, I
cry at everything.

Most days spent with my daughter are good. We enjoy each other’s company. We

Never seem to run out of things to talk about. And, oh, how we laugh. Thank God she picked up our sense of humor. I don’t know what I would do if our girl weren’t funny. The Traver family lives to laugh.

Recently, Josie and I had an extra special day. Josie is home for one week this summer before she starts her summer job. We are trying to make the most of it. We got up early on a Tuesday and headed for our favorite Kentucky town.

It is the town where her dad and I went to college. It is also where Josie spent two years at the same college’s STEM academy for high school juniors and seniors. We love it here. We also lived in this town for three years when Josie was younger. We still have lots of friends here and never get tired of visiting.

As always, we headed to our favorite bookstore and coffee shop—The Fuzzy Duck & CoffeeTree Books. We were greeted with hugs from the couple who own it. One of them told me, “Welcome home,” as he hugged me, and it almost brought me to tears. This place is my home. I hope it will legit be my home again one day.

Josie and I had lunch with one of my besties while various people we knew came and went. Throughout all this, there was much discussion of books. My gal, Nona, told me the ones I absolutely had to read, and we ended up leaving with a bag full of new reading material.

On our way out, one of my old college professors was coming in. I got so excited. Dr. Plum was one of my favorite instructors, and I always love running into her. She ordered me to sit down and talk to her, and I did not argue. She regaled Josie and me with lots of great stories, and it was such a lovely time being with her. I gave her my card and told her to call me, and I would bring my bestie and fellow journalism student to visit her. I sure hope we get that set up. It would be a great time.

After we left Dr. Plum, Josie and I walked through campus and shared our various memories of Morehead State University. We both love the school so much. I’m so glad we share this. It makes me so happy Josie spent time here, too. The best years of my life were spent on this campus.

After the two-hour drive home, we were beat. We heated some leftovers for dinner and put on our pajamas. I invited Josie to join me in my bed for some reading since the hubs was out of town on business. She happily agreed, and we, along with the three dogs, curled up with our books. I absolutely love reading with Josie. It is a passion we share. We have always loved reading together.

Not all days can be perfect, but this one certainly came close. This visit will tide me over till the next time I make it “home.”
