What is this blog about? Well, it's a general blog, but it is also a very specific blog. If you get that
reference, you get a gold star! I have been a public relations professional and writer of press
releases for more than 20 years—primarily in the booze biz. I decided to do some writing for
fun and embrace the humor that gets me through most days. Hopefully it will make you
chuckle—or at least smile. I’m a certified crazy magnet, and more than a little nutty myself, so
buckle up. Also, I have two vices—profanity and red wine/whiskey. You’ve been warned.
It should also be noted, that I’m a HUGE Bob & Sheri fan. I’ve been a listener for more than 20
years. This opportunity is a dream come true and it may have made me cry. That being said, I
cry at everything.
If you are into booze, dogs, food and/or knitting, hit me up on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter
(although I’m terrible at Twitter and it scares me) @kyspiritsgal. You can also find all my
previous blog posts at www.kyspiritsgal.com.

The Winter Solstice

For most of my life, December 21 has been my least favorite day of the year. It is the shortest day of the year, and to me, it represents being in the throes of my least favorite season with at least two miserable months ahead of me. That changed a...

Channeling the Holiday Spirit

I’m trying really hard to get into the holidays. Last year, I totally tapped out. I didn’t have it in me. I honestly don’t want a repeat of that, but it is hard. I just don’t feel particularly festive.  I am trying, though. I even did Christmas...

Car Shopping

There are not a ton of activities on this planet I truly detest. However, residing at the top of this short list is shopping for a new vehicle. I absolutely fucking hate it. Here’s the real rub in the situation: my husband loves it. He is like a...

Finding Hope

As a Buddhist, I believe in the law of cause and effect. If you put good things out into the universe, they will be returned. If you’re an ass hat, that will come back to you as well. Karma has everyone’s address. I experienced this phenomenon first...

The Ties That Bind Us

There is something special about finding a new friend—one that really gets you and with whom you have much in common. I have such a friend. We recently spent two days together in a cabin and did some hiking. Yes, we did hike, but mostly we talked...

Love Letters

I recently went down to the basement where our family room and daughter’s bedroom are located. I found my daughter in a comfy chair with a box I recolonized. It was a box of old love letters.  I smiled and asked her what she was doing. She replied...

Trick or Treat

I love Halloween. All of it. Well, most of it. I don’t do haunted houses. Paying to be scared is bullshit. Anyway, Halloween is just a fun holiday. It may actually be one of my favorite aspects of being a parent. Once I had a kid, I went all in on...

Bring Back the Romance

I’m not a big TV watcher. I totally used to be, but we got a kid and I didn’t want her to have too much screen time and we kind of got away from it. Then streaming came along and the choices were just too vast. I got behind—really behind. I feel I’m...

Stuff

I’ve wandered around my house a great deal lately. In all this wandering, I have come to one big revelation: I have too much stuff. Seriously, I have stuff everywhere. Not to the point that I’m too embarrassed to have company, but it is shit that I...
