What is this blog about? Well, it's a general blog, but it is also a very specific blog. If you get that
reference, you get a gold star! I have been a public relations professional and writer of press
releases for more than 20 years—primarily in the booze biz. I decided to do some writing for
fun and embrace the humor that gets me through most days. Hopefully it will make you
chuckle—or at least smile. I’m a certified crazy magnet, and more than a little nutty myself, so
buckle up. Also, I have two vices—profanity and red wine/whiskey. You’ve been warned.
It should also be noted, that I’m a HUGE Bob & Sheri fan. I’ve been a listener for more than 20
years. This opportunity is a dream come true and it may have made me cry. That being said, I
cry at everything.
If you are into booze, dogs, food and/or knitting, hit me up on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter
(although I’m terrible at Twitter and it scares me) @kyspiritsgal. You can also find all my
previous blog posts at www.kyspiritsgal.com.

Lies and Deceit for Fun

My daughter is 20 years old. I love this age. She is one of my best friends. However, I’m still ALWAYS in intense Momma Bear mode. This time of year, I really miss the Easter festivities. This is ridiculous, I realize. We are Buddhists, but I love...

Bleeding Kentucky Blue

From early on in my youth, I can remember curling up on the couch with my grandfather to watch the Kentucky Wildcats play basketball. It should be noted that while my Pa and I were watching the Cats, my Granny was cussing and passionately cheering...

Clawing for a Win

My daughter is now 20 years old. We got her when she was 15 months old. Over the last 19 years, we’ve archived a lot of good memories. The other day, we were all eating out. The restaurant had a claw game machine. You know the one, you put 50 cents...

Three is the Magic Number

March 5 is my favorite day of the year. Every year, without fail. It is the day we became a forever family. It is the day we held our daughter for the first time on the other side of the world.  I will never forget walking into that sterile Chinese...

I’d Hike That

Definition of a Thru-hiker: A thru-hiker is a backpacker who attempts to hike a long-distance trail from end to end in a single continuous journey, usually spanning one hiking season. Popularized by trails like the Appalachian Trail (AT) or Pacific...

Raising the Roof

Our house has needed a new roof for quite some time. “Luckily,” we had some hail damage from a storm, and our insurance company decided we were deserving of a new roof and they would foot the bill. Praise be! As the day approached for when the new...

A Hard Choice

I’m a bit of a sports nut. So is my husband. It is probably one of the reasons we have been married for nearly 34 years. This past Sunday presented an epic problem: Super Bowl vs. Winter Olympics. What to watch, what to watch!? It was quite the...

Memory Lane

I’m a very sentimental person—especially when it comes to my grandparents. I treasure all the things I have that were once theirs. I particularly like the practical stuff that was theirs, which I still use. A perfect example is my Granny’s biscuit...
