What is this blog about? Well, it's a general blog, but it is also a very specific blog. If you get that
reference, you get a gold star! I have been a public relations professional and writer of press
releases for more than 20 years—primarily in the booze biz. I decided to do some writing for
fun and embrace the humor that gets me through most days. Hopefully it will make you
chuckle—or at least smile. I’m a certified crazy magnet, and more than a little nutty myself, so
buckle up. Also, I have two vices—profanity and red wine/whiskey. You’ve been warned.
It should also be noted, that I’m a HUGE Bob & Sheri fan. I’ve been a listener for more than 20
years. This opportunity is a dream come true and it may have made me cry. That being said, I
cry at everything.
If you are into booze, dogs, food and/or knitting, hit me up on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter
(although I’m terrible at Twitter and it scares me) @kyspiritsgal. You can also find all my
previous blog posts at www.kyspiritsgal.com.

Unrelatable

I’m finding it very hard to connect with the general public after the election. I’ve always struggled in the town where I live. I’m different. I’m a tree-hugging hippie. Most of those who surround me are not. I’ve lived here for 11 years and have...

Training Day

As I declared in my post last week, it is my goal to do an 11.4-mile hike in Glacier National Park this August. I’m as out of shape as I have ever been in my whole life. I blame menopause. It has sucked my will to live. Alas… Until the last couple...

Taking to the Open Road

One of my best friends is an absolute queen. This amazing woman is embarking on a grand adventure as we speak. She is traveling across the country with her four boys. They are camping and seeing all the stuff along the way. Her boys are 18, 16...

A Cup Full of Memories

One of the things my daughter recently asked for was a tin of super-bougie Oolong tea. Of course, she got it. Little did I know how much I would enjoy it. She brewed her first pot and asked me if I wanted some. I never miss the opportunity to...

Back With My Besties

The pandemic was tough. It changed a lot. Prior to COVID, I used to see two of my best friends on the regular. COVID stopped business trips and hence our gathering. Our kids also got busy. Lots happened. We have never lost touch, but our in-person...

The Songs that Define Me

I love music. All kinds, but not every kind. I know it is very controversial, but I do not like classical or jazz music. They are both too erratic and make me anxious. My go-to music is rock or Americana, but I also love bluegrass and Chris...

Over the Blockbuster

I have been married for nearly 32 years. Anyone who has been married that long realizes you just have to make some concessions for your partner. One of my bigger concessions has been Marvel movies. I’ve watched a lot of superhero movies for my...

Powering Through

I am an anxious person. I fight anxiety every damn day. On days when I don’t have to leave my house, it may be less, but not always. On days when I have things planned it can be crippling. I persevere. It’s all I can do. I don’t want to not do...

Prime Time

I look back fondly at the early days of Amazon—you know, back when it just sold books. Ahhh, the good old days. When I first discovered Amazon, I was living in Japan. My husband was in the military and we were stationed there. We had a small...

Mug Shots

I shop too much. I like to buy things that make me smile or happy. Sometimes, this is long-lived happiness like the wonderful art hanging throughout my home. Sometimes, it is fleeting like the aromatherapy burner I bought at Christmas and have yet...
