What is this blog about? Well, it's a general blog, but it is also a very specific blog. If you get that
reference, you get a gold star! I have been a public relations professional and writer of press
releases for more than 20 years—primarily in the booze biz. I decided to do some writing for
fun and embrace the humor that gets me through most days. Hopefully it will make you
chuckle—or at least smile. I’m a certified crazy magnet, and more than a little nutty myself, so
buckle up. Also, I have two vices—profanity and red wine/whiskey. You’ve been warned.
It should also be noted, that I’m a HUGE Bob & Sheri fan. I’ve been a listener for more than 20
years. This opportunity is a dream come true and it may have made me cry. That being said, I
cry at everything.
If you are into booze, dogs, food and/or knitting, hit me up on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter
(although I’m terrible at Twitter and it scares me) @kyspiritsgal. You can also find all my
previous blog posts at www.kyspiritsgal.com.

The Ties That Bind Us

There is something special about finding a new friend—one that really gets you and with whom you have much in common. I have such a friend. We recently spent two days together in a cabin and did some hiking. Yes, we did hike, but mostly we talked...

Love Letters

I recently went down to the basement where our family room and daughter’s bedroom are located. I found my daughter in a comfy chair with a box I recolonized. It was a box of old love letters.  I smiled and asked her what she was doing. She replied...

Trick or Treat

I love Halloween. All of it. Well, most of it. I don’t do haunted houses. Paying to be scared is bullshit. Anyway, Halloween is just a fun holiday. It may actually be one of my favorite aspects of being a parent. Once I had a kid, I went all in on...

Bring Back the Romance

I’m not a big TV watcher. I totally used to be, but we got a kid and I didn’t want her to have too much screen time and we kind of got away from it. Then streaming came along and the choices were just too vast. I got behind—really behind. I feel I’m...

Stuff

I’ve wandered around my house a great deal lately. In all this wandering, I have come to one big revelation: I have too much stuff. Seriously, I have stuff everywhere. Not to the point that I’m too embarrassed to have company, but it is shit that I...

Meno-rage

I was mindlessly scrolling Instagram and a clip came up from That 70s Show with my girl Kitty Forman freaking out. It was actually a series of clips and the title was “Meno-Rage.” I laughed at Kitty’s outbursts, but only because I knew how real they...

Eat, Pray, Love… Not

I realize as I enter into this blog post I might get slaughtered. I know there is a cult of women out there who love the book, Eat, Pray, Love. I’m sorry to report that I’m not one of those people. This book wore me the fuck out. To be fair there...

My People

We are surrounded by people every day. Sometimes that is good. Sometimes that is bad. It is particularly awesome to be surrounded by “your people.” Those are times to relish and really appreciate. I’m in the middle of a week with my people. I’m at...

The Early Bird…

I’m chronically early. I grew up in a house with a mother who believed if you were not 15 minutes early, you were late. I have carried this philosophy throughout my life. Usually, it is not a problem. My husband is very accommodating when it comes...

What’s Cooking?

As I have established on more than one occasion, I love books. That will never change—all books. Along with books for my reading pleasure, I also am obsessed with cookbooks. A good cookbook is like my porn. The pictures, the ingredient list, the...
