What is this blog about? Well, it's a general blog, but it is also a very specific blog. If you get that
reference, you get a gold star! I have been a public relations professional and writer of press
releases for more than 20 years—primarily in the booze biz. I decided to do some writing for
fun and embrace the humor that gets me through most days. Hopefully it will make you
chuckle—or at least smile. I’m a certified crazy magnet, and more than a little nutty myself, so
buckle up. Also, I have two vices—profanity and red wine/whiskey. You’ve been warned.
It should also be noted, that I’m a HUGE Bob & Sheri fan. I’ve been a listener for more than 20
years. This opportunity is a dream come true and it may have made me cry. That being said, I
cry at everything.
If you are into booze, dogs, food and/or knitting, hit me up on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter
(although I’m terrible at Twitter and it scares me) @kyspiritsgal. You can also find all my
previous blog posts at www.kyspiritsgal.com.

What Can Brown Do For You?

I could live to be 100 and I don’t think I will ever understand my dogs’ hatred of the UPS man. They get a little wound up over the mailman and the FedEx guy, but the UPS man sends them over the damn edge. I have a theory. In this theory, I’m...

In The Spotlight

In my opinion community theater is an absolute treasure. I love pretty much all theater. However, there is something about people joining forces, not making a dime, just for the love of the art. It gives me great joy. It is not just the actors. The...

Gotcha Day!

One of my favorite days of the year is March 5. It is Gotcha Day for my family. For those of you not in the know, that is what most adoptive families call the day they got their child. We got Josie March 5, 2007. Goodness. It’s hard to believe it...

There’s An App For That

I may be becoming dependent on apps. In my defense, many on my devices are practical and help make life just a little easier. I’m also a fan of apps for self-improvement. There are certain apps you just have to have on your phone. I mean, seriously...

The Salt Life

I’m very grateful I don’t have much of a sweet tooth. I’m often perplexed by my husband’s need for nightly ice cream. I eat ice cream maybe once or twice a year. He will also eat the hell out of some brownies, cookies, cake, pie or anything with...

A True Force

“If my life weren’t funny it would just be true, and that is unacceptable.” This is my all-time favorite quote and how I approach my life. These wise words were said by the late, great Carrie Fisher. Carrie was a ray of sunshine and honesty. I miss...

Blazing Trails

I’ve stuck my toe into the organizational nightmare of cleaning my basement garage. No one but myself and my husband goes into this space. We try to avoid it at all costs. However, it is a true embarrassment. I don’t want to die and people find this...

I’m a Very Good Driver

My daughter was home from school over the holidays and teaching her how to drive was one of the top items on our to-do list. She has had her permit for a while, but we have not done much work toward logging her practice hours. Most of this task has...

Running From My Family

There are a handful of accomplishments in my life that make me really proud. However, there is one that really stands out: running a half marathon. Don’t get me wrong, I’m super proud of my daughter and the fact I’ve been married for nearly 30 years...

The Roar of the Crowd

As I have stated before, I really hate this time of year. I’m cold. I’m sad. Everything hurts and I’m dying. Overall, I’m just fucking grouchy. However, there is one thing that helps see me through the dark days of winter: sports. We are big sports...
