What is this blog about? Well, it's a general blog, but it is also a very specific blog. If you get that
reference, you get a gold star! I have been a public relations professional and writer of press
releases for more than 20 years—primarily in the booze biz. I decided to do some writing for
fun and embrace the humor that gets me through most days. Hopefully it will make you
chuckle—or at least smile. I’m a certified crazy magnet, and more than a little nutty myself, so
buckle up. Also, I have two vices—profanity and red wine/whiskey. You’ve been warned.
It should also be noted, that I’m a HUGE Bob & Sheri fan. I’ve been a listener for more than 20
years. This opportunity is a dream come true and it may have made me cry. That being said, I
cry at everything.
If you are into booze, dogs, food and/or knitting, hit me up on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter

I’m not a big TV watcher. I totally used to be, but we got a kid and I didn’t want her to have too much screen time and we kind of got away from it. Then streaming came along and the choices were just too vast. I got behind—really behind. I feel I’m always late to the game when it comes to streaming something.

Now that my child is out of the house, I have some time to kill and I know there are some really amazing shows out there. I’ve tried hard to jump back in. The problem is I’m not a binger and I’m also easily sidetracked. It takes a lot to get me sucked in. I have started and stopped numerous shows. It drives my sister crazy. She is always telling me to watch something I just can’t get into.

That being said, there have been a few that have reeled me in and have become my comfort shows. I’m looking at you Schitt’s Creek, Ted Lasso and Only Murders in the Building. The most recent of these is Nobody Wants This which recently premiered on Netflix. Surprisingly enough, I was in on this masterpiece from the beginning.

I was initially lured in by Kristen Bell. She is cute as a damn button! How can you not love her!? The Good Place was a gem of a sitcom. I was not familiar with Adam Brody, the male lead. However, he is also a cutie and I loved the Jewish aspect as the premise. I find the Jewish faith and culture fascinating and I love any show that will shine light on things people just don’t understand. With understanding comes respect and that is what we are missing in this world. I digress.

Well, this show did not disappoint. It was an absolute delight. As any self-respecting, middle-aged woman does, I love a good rom-com. Here’s the problem: rom-coms are a lost art. I so wanted Nobody Wants This to bring back the genre. I think it is a good start.

The premise of this show and the endlessly witty dialogue take me right back to When Harry Met Sally—the gold standard of rom-coms. Seriously, y’all, I know there is a demand for a good rom-com. Why is nobody making them anymore? I’m so tired of violence. Bring back the romance!

Having just finished the first season, I was delighted to see it has already been renewed for a second season. I’m sure I will watch the first season multiple times before the second. I enjoyed it very much. Even my husband was all in and he is very much an action/superhero guy. I’m telling you, this show is a winner.

I know there are probably lots of other shows out there like this in the dozens of streaming platforms that exist. I just don’t have the time and energy to search them out. It’s too much.

Seriously, I miss the good ole days when new shows premiered each fall, all at the same time and I could mark my TV guide with the new offerings I planned to tune in to and hopefully fall in love with characters and stories years to come.

In the end, I’m just a 52-year-old woman sitting in front of her TV looking for a feel-good rom-com to love.
