It Could Be Photos…. or Podcasts.Â
Shameless plug alert: As a podcaster and host of the Journey into Yoga podcast, I am also a podcast consumer and in the past, I had not always been diligent in deleting those episodes that I have played. Whether it is a series or a one off episode, it is important to delete the ones we have listened to so that we have room to download new ones and have the space to do so. Even though the room needed for podcasts is different, our phones and devices can also share the name of being ‘cluttered,’ so this exercise is just as important as perhaps, decluttering your clothing or spice drawer.
So let’s just say you have just listened to an episode from the podcast Journey Into Yoga :), and then Bob & Sheri: The Podcast, followed by a steady dose of your other favorites, and Now that you have consumed said episodes, take the time to delete them from your downloads as they are ‘played’ and this will free up space for new episodes. Ok, maybe you don’t want to do this each and every time you complete a podcast, but I would recommend doing it weekly as a part of a regular media decluttering routine. Most apps have settings that will let you do this automatically. Personally, I have gotten into the habit of deleting played podcasts as soon as I have listened to them, and I don’t think I will ever go back to any other method as it serves me well and keeps my devices clutter free.
If you have just gotten ‘into’ a new podcast, it may be nice to subscribe or follow so that you don’t miss newly published episodes, and also, if it is a podcast with many episodes, you may want to start at the beginning and sort them so that you can have one follow the next – this is especially handy if you are travelling or even going for walk or run and want a nice uninterrupted listen from episode to episode.
Everything works better when it is clutter free so keep your devices full of the items you need, and this includes podcasts! Don’t worry, if you ever want to go back I promise you the episodes will be there on your preferred platform to access whenever you want.Â
Here’s an episode from the podcast I do, all about performing bridge pose. The good news is that most of the episodes on the show are under 10 minutes, so it likely will not clutter you phone.Â
