Most of us are all too familiar with “providers” which range from our utility providers (which are sometimes non-negotiable) all the way to providers that we have choice with, such as cell phone providers, alarm companies, internet, television, and many many more. Although often a time consuming venture, it is important to review, update, and yes declutter these providers if necessary.
Putting a day or two aside for this may be important, as it will likely involve being on the phone for stretches of time or chatting online with these providers. Here is a good suggestion about how to handle this task:
- Make a physical list – write down all of your providers so that you can be sure that you have each and every source you will need to contact. Your list will include every company that provides you with services (such as telus, utility companies, other home services you may engage such as lawn care, you get the jist).
- Once the list is made, you can cross out any providers that are non-negotiable (as in there are no other options you can engage for that service so no need not contact).
3. Now it’s time to get on the phone or computer and check in with each and every provider. Ask about promotions or deals you may not be aware of; Check to see if there are any ways you may be able to save some money. You may also want to shop around at this point – if you feel your provider(s) are not giving you the best prices feel free to shop around!
Although this declutter task can be irritating and time consuming, I always encourage people to do this – making sure you are paying the best rates possible is important as it will translate to more money in your pocket each and every month so declutter those providers today!
