Deck to Page #20
Deck: Mindful Souls ‘Soul Bridges’
Category: Dream = Reflect on hopes and goals.
Prompt: “Describe your vision for your dream home or personal sanctuary space.
The card asked me to describe my dream home or personal sanctuary.
I paused.
Because the truth is… I don’t think it’s ever been about the home.
I’ve been in beautiful spaces that felt heavy.
Rooms that were styled perfectly, designed thoughtfully, filled with everything someone could want—and yet, something in the air felt off. Tight. Unsettled. Like you couldn’t fully exhale.
And I’ve been in simple spaces—nothing extravagant, nothing curated—where the moment you walk in, your body softens. Your shoulders drop. You breathe a little deeper without even realizing it.
That’s when I realized…
A sanctuary isn’t something you design.
It’s something you feel.
We often think of a dream home in terms of what we can see:
The layout.
The light.
The colors.
The furniture.
But what we’re really craving is something we can’t always name.
We want to feel:
Safe.
Held.
At ease.
Like we can be fully ourselves without adjusting or performing.
And that doesn’t come from décor.
Over time—through my work, my own experiences, and stepping into different environments—I’ve become more aware of something most people don’t consciously think about:
Spaces hold energy.
Not in a way that needs to be complicated or mystical—just in a very human, very real way.
Conversations linger.
Stress leaves an imprint.
Laughter does too.
Healing does too.
What has been experienced in a space… stays in a space.
And whether we realize it or not, we feel it.
Recently, my husband and I purchased a new office.
A space that we’re not just working in—but intentionally creating.
And I’ve noticed something as we’ve been moving through it…
I’m not asking:
“What will this look like when it’s done?”
I’m asking:
“What do I want people to feel when they walk in?”
Because people don’t remember the chair.
They don’t remember the layout.
They remember how their body felt in the space.
Did they feel safe?
Did they feel seen?
Did they feel like they could exhale… even just a little?
A true sanctuary isn’t built from the outside in.
It’s created from the inside out.
You can have the most peaceful-looking environment in the world—but if your nervous system is in a constant state of tension, you’ll carry that into every room you enter.
And the opposite is true too.
When you begin to cultivate a sense of safety within yourself, you start to create it around you—without even trying.
Through your presence.
Your awareness.
Your intention.
So, if I were to answer the card now…
My dream home isn’t defined by walls or location or design.
It’s a space where:
I can be fully myself.
Nothing feels forced.
There is room for both stillness and growth.
Energy can move, shift, and be supported.
A space that doesn’t just look peaceful—
but feels like peace.
Reflection
Take a moment to think about the spaces in your life…
- Where do you feel most at ease? What is it about that space that allows you to soften?
• Have you ever been somewhere that looked beautiful but didn’t feel good? What did you notice?
• What kind of energy are you bringing into your own spaces each day?
• If your environment could support you more fully, what would need to shift—externally or internally?
Sometimes we spend so much time trying to create the perfect space…
when what we’re really searching for is a place where we can simply be.
And that… is something we can begin creating, right where we are.
