I finally completed one of the tasks I’d been dreading the most since becoming a homeowner.
Working on home projects has been a slow grind because doing it takes a lot of time…and it’s expensive too. But it was finally time to upgrade the main bathroom in the off chance someone actually comes to my house (please don’t).
Here’s a look at the before:
Please don’t ask me who in the world decided to paint this bathroom the same color as a green screen! However, I am totally at fault for purchasing the random brown shower curtain.
My plan was to replace everything except for the tub: the toilet, vanity, medicine cabinet mirror thingie, and the flooring.
The flooring was a pain in the butt, but still easier than expected. Replacing the toilet made me nervous because SO many things could go wrong after the fact…I’m knocking on wood as I type this that nothing has leaked or exploded yet.
Next came paint. That vibrant green was kinda crazy, but I didn’t completely hate the idea of the bathroom being a green color. That’s why I went with Sherwin Williams’ “Evergreen Fog.”
Evergreen Fog is a soothing green (with some gray and blue); how green it looks is dependent on the temperature of the lighting. While painting it looked gray with the “daylight” bulbs, so I switched to 2700K bulbs and it looks great.
Anyway, here’s the finished results:
Next up? It’s a “Choose Your Own Adventure” of home projects: replace ceiling tiles in the kitchen, repair the back patio, or clean out the garage.
Your bathroom looks amazing!!!
I can’t believe you did that all by yourself! You are brave and it’s awesome! That before green is TERRIBLE!
It looks fantastic! The new paint color makes such a huge difference, love it!!
Man, that looks fantastic! And that was a LOT of work — and it ain’t easy! (I know because I have both replaced a toilet and laid flooring)
WOW! What an improvement- so much better looking. You should be proud. I love the before and after affect- owning a home is very satisfying as you are discovering. Welcome to adulting 101.
Great job Doc! It looks great.
Looks fantastic! Great job all around.
Great job Doc!
Great job, Doc!
Love what you changed in your bathroom. You must have had to wear sunglasses before the makeover.
Doc, WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT! Hat’s off to you!
That being said, I’m concerned for you… getting rid of Kelly Green in March?! Wouldn’t that bring on an Irish UN-blessing?! HAha Wishing you GOOD LUCK on your next project 🙂
My daughter asks about the original bathroom: “Why is it radioactive?” I told her that was a good question. LOL!
Also, BEAUTIFUL JOB!!!
