Category: BE = Discover your spiritual side.
Prompt: Do you believe there’s an afterlife?
Some questions have been asked for as long as humans have existed.
What happens next?
What happens when this life ends?
Is there something beyond what we can see, touch, and understand?
The card I pulled this week asked a version of that question:
Do you believe there’s an afterlife?
My answer is yes.
Not because I can prove it.
Not because I have all the answers.
And certainly not because I know exactly what happens when we leave this world.
The truth is, I don’t know.
What I do know is that throughout my life, I have encountered stories, experiences, and conversations that have left me believing there is more to our existence than what we see in front of us.
In my work, I have sat with people who shared vivid memories, dreams, and visions that felt connected to other lifetimes. Some described places they had never visited. Others spoke about recurring fears, talents, or connections that seemed to appear without explanation.
Whether those experiences are memories, metaphors, or something else entirely, I have always found them fascinating.
Many spiritual and metaphysical traditions teach that life is a journey of learning and growth. Some believe we continue returning, experiencing, and evolving until we’ve learned what we came here to learn, or until there is nothing more we feel called to experience.
Do I know if that’s true?
No.
But I find comfort in the idea that life may be part of something larger than a single beginning and ending.
At the same time, I am comfortable admitting that I don’t know exactly what the afterlife is.
I don’t know if it’s heaven.
I don’t know if it’s reincarnation.
I don’t know if it’s something beyond our ability to understand while we’re here.
And honestly, I think that’s okay.
Not every mystery needs to be solved.
Some questions are meant to be explored rather than answered.
I was raised around people with different beliefs. Some were deeply religious. Some were spiritual. Some were skeptical. Over the years, I have learned that most people eventually arrive at the same place when talking about the afterlife:
Hope.
Hope that our loved ones continue somehow.
Hope that the relationships we build matter.
Hope that life has meaning beyond the struggles we experience.
Hope that death is not simply an ending.
For me, belief in an afterlife doesn’t change how I live today.
In fact, it reminds me to focus on this life.
This conversation.
This moment.
This opportunity to learn, grow, love, forgive, and experience what it means to be human.
Because whether there is another chapter after this one or not, this chapter deserves our full attention.
I believe there’s an afterlife.
I believe there is more than what we can see in this lifetime.
But I also believe this life deserves my full attention.
There are still books I want to read.
Places I want to visit.
Conversations I want to have.
People I want to help.
Lessons I still have to learn.
What happens next?
Someday, we’ll all find out.
Until then, I plan to make the most of this chapter.
Reflection Questions:
Do you believe there’s an afterlife? Why or why not?
Has a personal experience ever changed your perspective about life after death?
If you knew there was something beyond this life, would it change how you live today?
What unanswered question has shaped the way you live your life?
