What is this blog about? Well, it's a general blog, but it is also a very specific blog. If you get that
reference, you get a gold star! I have been a public relations professional and writer of press
releases for more than 20 years—primarily in the booze biz. I decided to do some writing for
fun and embrace the humor that gets me through most days. Hopefully it will make you
chuckle—or at least smile. I’m a certified crazy magnet, and more than a little nutty myself, so
buckle up. Also, I have two vices—profanity and red wine/whiskey. You’ve been warned.
It should also be noted, that I’m a HUGE Bob & Sheri fan. I’ve been a listener for more than 20
years. This opportunity is a dream come true and it may have made me cry. That being said, I
cry at everything.

My bestie and I are firm believers that you have to find joy and happiness in the little things in life. We talk about it on the regular. Life, at least ours, just doesn’t give you a ton of big shit to get excited about. Enjoy what you can.

Enter Ahsoka Tano, the greatest Jedi to ever grace the galaxy. Seriously, I stand by this statement. There are times in life when the universe gives you exactly what you need when you need it. This has been the case with me and the latest Star Wars series, Ahsoka. It has become a bit of an obsession for me. Rest assured, there are no spoilers in this blog post. I’m not that jerk.

I first learned of Ahsoka’s existence when she graced the screen in The Mandalorian. She is played by Rosario Dawson, so I was all in from the get-go. I freaking love her. When she first rolled up on the scene, my husband squealed like a little girl with delight then paused the show to explain.

According to my husband, an even bigger Star Wars nerd than myself, Ahsoka is the padawan of the young Anakin Skywalker (whom most of us know went on to become Darth Vader). I shot Brett the side eye and asked him how the hell he knew that.

At this point, he dove deep into Nerdville and started yammering about the Clone Wars animated series. I sighed, rolled my eyes and totally dismissed him. As much as I love Star Wars, I had no desire to watch the cartoon nonsense, as I believe I called it at the time. This is how my husband spends his time after I go to bed. I suppose it could be worse.

Ahsoka only had a small role in The Mandalorian, but she was a badass and I really liked her. So, imagine my delight when I learned months later that she was getting her own series.

In August that series began and it has changed my life. I have loved every damn second of this series. Another bestie and I have spent hours on the phone dissecting it each week. He actually watched the first two episodes that initially dropped three times! What a geek. Oh, how I love him.

As I write this there is one episode left. I’m full of anticipation and sadness. I just don’t want it to end.

So, guess what I have done? Yep. I started watching the fucking cartoons. I just want more of this character and her story. Also, let me be the first to say that I was too dismissive of it because it was animated. I was wrong. These are some really good stories.

What drove me to give the animated stuff a try was really the genius of Dave Filoni. He created and has written all the Ahsoka series. He started with the animated stuff. This dude truly gets Star Wars. I will watch anything he has a hand in. He is just brilliant.

So, here are my takeaways: 1. Star Wars has been one of my happy places since I was five. I hope that never changes. 2. It is the story that matters, not how it is told. Basically meaning, I’m not too old for a good cartoon. 3. The most badass Jedi in the galaxy is a woman. Hell, yeah!

I only wish I could have seen Ahsoka and Leia meet. However, it might have killed me. I’m very emotional about Leia. That would be more joy than I could handle. Best I stick to the little things.
