What is this blog about? Well, it's a general blog, but it is also a very specific blog. If you get that
reference, you get a gold star! I have been a public relations professional and writer of press
releases for more than 20 years—primarily in the booze biz. I decided to do some writing for
fun and embrace the humor that gets me through most days. Hopefully it will make you
chuckle—or at least smile. I’m a certified crazy magnet, and more than a little nutty myself, so
buckle up. Also, I have two vices—profanity and red wine/whiskey. You’ve been warned.
It should also be noted, that I’m a HUGE Bob & Sheri fan. I’ve been a listener for more than 20
years. This opportunity is a dream come true and it may have made me cry. That being said, I
cry at everything.

The pandemic was tough. It changed a lot. Prior to COVID, I used to see two of my best friends on the regular. COVID stopped business trips and hence our gathering. Our kids also got busy. Lots happened. We have never lost touch, but our in-person visits have certainly dwindled.

I live about two hours from one of my besties and the other lives in Oklahoma. We all met living in the same city and working together, but our lives have changed. Moves have happened and we don’t see nearly as much of each other as we would like.

This past weekend, my friend from Oklahoma was in Kentucky for work and we all converged for the weekend. It was a delight. It’s amazing with good friends, no matter how much time passes, we can just fall back into step.

The three of us could not be more different, but for some reason, the universe saw fit to bring us together and give us an unbreakable bond. I’m the hippie. Kendall is the Southern Belle and Mack is our Texas cowgirl. Somehow, we found our way to each other a quarter of a century ago and have not looked back.

Despite our differences, we somehow clicked. Isn’t it funny how life works like that? It was definitely the right place at the right time situation. We are the three amigos. We never fail to have each other’s backs. We will grow old together. I have no doubt.

While we may not see each other as much as we would like, a week never passes that we do not talk on the phone. Yes, I like talking on the phone. When we get on the phone, we settle in and plan for a long conversation, sometimes hours.

When the three of us are together in person, it is even better. There is always champagne, charcuterie and lots of laughs.

One time we were together and we saw a man serve his wife divorce papers at a sushi restaurant. The wife chased the husband out into the parking lot, where we were, and proceeded to cuss him up one side and down the other. She threw things at him. It was epic.

This weekend we went to that same sushi restaurant and relived the divorce paper incident. Nothing that exciting happened this time, but it was still a lovely meal.

The weekend as a whole was pretty mellow, but it sure was nice to be back on Kendall’s deck with bubbly in hand, discussing life and reliving good times.

Old friends are such a gift. To be able to share so much of your life with other people keeps us sane. So, cheers to my girls. I hope we get to ride together again soon!
