What is this blog about? Well, it's a general blog, but it is also a very specific blog. If you get that
reference, you get a gold star! I have been a public relations professional and writer of press
releases for more than 20 years—primarily in the booze biz. I decided to do some writing for
fun and embrace the humor that gets me through most days. Hopefully it will make you
chuckle—or at least smile. I’m a certified crazy magnet, and more than a little nutty myself, so
buckle up. Also, I have two vices—profanity and red wine/whiskey. You’ve been warned.
It should also be noted, that I’m a HUGE Bob & Sheri fan. I’ve been a listener for more than 20
years. This opportunity is a dream come true and it may have made me cry. That being said, I
cry at everything.

The Traver family loves to eat. We are all foodies. We are all constantly looking forward to our next good meal. We love to have an orgasmic food experience.

Over the holidays we made a trip to Nashville to get our daughter fitted for a suit. Yes, the suit was the primary focus of our trip, but it was the food we were going to enjoy which was discussed on the three-hour drive to Nash Vegas.

I suggested early on I would love to have a good Italian meal. There are no Italian restaurants in the town in which we live and I long for Italian on a regular basis. This leads me into making a lot of Italian at home—Bolognese, vodka pasta and spaghetti with Jose Andres’ amazing tomato sauce. The recipe can be found in his Vegetables Unleashed cookbook if you’re interested. The list goes on, but I can’t get decent pasta out in my town.

My rockstar husband found a great place downtown. We all got our Italian fix the first night in town. We were so full and happy it was obscene. I make no apologies.

Freshly back at our VRBO with bellies full of pasta, we began to discuss breakfast. This is what we do. We always discuss our next meal at our current meal. I declared I needed a bagel for breakfast.

The hubs quickly accepted this challenge and took to the internet. He found a bagel place that actually used water filters from New York to give an authentic New York bagel experience. Let me tell you, these bagels did not disappoint! They were off the hook complete with lox cream cheese. I was in heaven. I lived in Jersey for three years. I know a good bagel. These were excellent bagels.

For lunch, we eyed a Japanese restaurant. It was appropriate because we had just seen a delightful Japanese exhibit at the Frist Art Museum. They even had one of the Great Waves of Kanagawa on display! Color me thrilled.

Lunch was the perfect way to cap off the art. My husband and I had a beef and veggie bowl that was next level and our daughter had some amazing sushi.

Traveling with one’s belly is the only way to go. There is not a great deal of food options where we live, so you can bet your sweet ass when we travel, we find the good stuff. This particular trip was all high-scoring.

I love to travel just for the sake of seeing and experiencing new things, but I would lying if I said I didn’t like to experience a town or city through my belly. I fucking love to eat!

Sure, we have had both good and bad meals in our exploits. I think the good outweighs the bad. The joy the Travers have after a good meal is contagious. We are happy, we are funny, and yes, we are planning our next meal.

Unfortunately, bad weather moved in and we had to cut our trip to Nashville short by a day. However, we are still looking forward to our next good meal whether it is out or at home. Food is love and I’m always here for it!
