What is this blog about? Well, it's a general blog, but it is also a very specific blog. If you get that
reference, you get a gold star! I have been a public relations professional and writer of press
releases for more than 20 years—primarily in the booze biz. I decided to do some writing for
fun and embrace the humor that gets me through most days. Hopefully it will make you
chuckle—or at least smile. I’m a certified crazy magnet, and more than a little nutty myself, so
buckle up. Also, I have two vices—profanity and red wine/whiskey. You’ve been warned.
It should also be noted, that I’m a HUGE Bob & Sheri fan. I’ve been a listener for more than 20
years. This opportunity is a dream come true and it may have made me cry. That being said, I
cry at everything.

I don’t like fall or winter. I actually hate winter. However, football season is my favorite season of the year.  Yes, I realize that football season lands in fall and winter. It’s one of life’s mysteries.

I’m a Kansas City Chiefs fan. Get off my ass. I have loved them for more than 30 years. I started cheering for the Chiefs when Marty Schottenheimer was the head coach. I loved me some Marty. I was also a huge Derrick Thomas fan.

I actually got to meet Thomas when he came to Japan and my husband was stationed there with the Army. I worked for marketing as a civilian and they came to our post. My boss knew I was a hardcore Chiefs fan and put me in charge of the event. To say I was thrilled was an enormous understatement.

Thomas and four other Chiefs came to meet with soldiers. They were an absolute delight. The thing that stayed with me the most was their size. Leslie O’Neal shook my hand and enveloped my arm up to my elbow. I’m small, but damn!

I know it’s cool to hate on the Chiefs now, but my love is unshaken. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce give me life. They are so exciting to watch. I just love them. They are also a bit crazy and that makes me happy!

I would be remiss here if I did not mention how Travis has even made me a Taylor Swift supporter. I can’t call myself a Swiftie. I only know like five of her songs, but I love their relationship. I want them to go the distance. I also love that she has little girls watching football with their dads. That is amazing. I’ve always loved football. I want all girls to feel that. It is a sport for everyone—not just stinky boys.

What is not to love about football season? It is so exciting. The only area that is not good is Thursday Night Football. It’s too much and the games always seem to be horrible. My husband has dubbed it Turdsday Night Football. It’s true. It also makes me laugh. I do love Fitzmagic on TNF, however. He is the smart guy from Harvard and that beard really is magic.

I like coaches that look like real football coaches. Andy Reid is the man. I love Big Red. I also like others that look like they should be on the NFL sidelines and don’t look like Ryan Seacrest. Those little weasels are horse shit. Yes, l’m looking at you Sean McVay, Mike McDaniel and Matt LaFleur. Those guys wear me out. That is all I will say about that.

I know we just finished week four, but I’m all in. I realize it is a brutal sport, but the fact I can stay in my pajamas all day Sunday and just watch football is amazing!

Long live football and the Kansas City Chiefs! Sports bring us together. That is good. Let’s hang onto that. It is one of the few good things we’ve got going for us right now in this dumpster fire of a world. Again, Go Chiefs!
