What is this blog about? Well, it's a general blog, but it is also a very specific blog. If you get that
reference, you get a gold star! I have been a public relations professional and writer of press
releases for more than 20 years—primarily in the booze biz. I decided to do some writing for
fun and embrace the humor that gets me through most days. Hopefully it will make you
chuckle—or at least smile. I’m a certified crazy magnet, and more than a little nutty myself, so
buckle up. Also, I have two vices—profanity and red wine/whiskey. You’ve been warned.
It should also be noted, that I’m a HUGE Bob & Sheri fan. I’ve been a listener for more than 20
years. This opportunity is a dream come true and it may have made me cry. That being said, I
cry at everything.
If you are into booze, dogs, food and/or knitting, hit me up on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter

I do not like car racing. I never have. I honestly don’t get it. Driving at my top speed seems scary AF to me. It makes me very nervous. I have also never seen the appeal of watching people drive in circles. I won’t even get into the noise, the possibility of inclement weather and straight-up death. It all seems like a miserable way to spend a day.

Here’s the thing, though, apparently, I enjoy the hell out of race car movies. Who knew!?

I’ve been complaining all summer about what I perceive to be a shitty selection of movies on in the actual theater. I’m so over the blockbuster superhero movie or some fucking horror flick. My daughter is also 19 now, so thank God, I don’t have to do the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Enough already.

Early on in our marriage, my husband and I used to go to the movies every weekend and we never had a problem finding something we could agree on to watch. We rarely go to the theater anymore and it is rare that we both want to see the same film. We do humor each other from time to time just to get out of the house.

Enter F1. Was I excited about Formula 1 racing? Not so much. Was I excited about the possibility of seeing Brad Pitt without his shirt? That would be a BIG yes. The movie makers did not disappoint. They know how husbands are going to get their wives to this movie.

I’m not saying there are no female F1 fans. I happen to know one, but let’s get real. Brad Pitt partially clothed, is always a bonus for the ladies. That’s just facts.

The last racing movie I saw was Ford versus Ferrari. I loved it. It was a great movie. Prior to that I enjoyed the ridiculous Talladega Nights. I believe back in the 80s, I even embraced Days of Thunder. So, I have a little history with racing movies, but not extensive. I’m open to it, however.

Prior to going to the movie, I expressed my concerns to Brett regarding knowing zilch about F1 racing. Would I be able to hang with the movie? Brett said to me, “You don’t know shit about NASCAR and you manage to get through Talladega Nights.” That made me lol pretty hard and I conceded he was probably right. Also, Brad Pitt was on my New Heights Podcast last week and he assured me I would be fine. I trust Brad.

Brad was on point. It was a great underdog/has-been movie. I would also like to give a big nod to Javier Bardem. He too, was sexy AF and had a great performance. I liked everything about this movie. It ticked all the boxes. Suspense, overcoming the odds, a touch of steamy sex, great music and the underdog wins!

While I do not see myself attending any sort of car race in person ever, I will keep going to racing movies. They are enjoyable, and as long as there is a little eye candy, I’m totally in. All hail, F1. What a summer movie should be.
