As January is coming to a close and we’re moving past the very hectic beginning of 2025 I wanted to share something odd/weird that I do. I’ve been asked a few times if I made any resolutions for myself in 2025. For the past 3/4 years I’ve actually started all my resolutions in February. It happened the first year because of how stressful and crazy the start of that year had been I didn’t have the time or space for any big life changes. I’ve found that since then that has remained true.
When it comes to resolutions that are big things starting in February might give you time to actually focus on how to get there. I also have stopped making open-ended resolutions. Resolutions like Go to the Gym, or be healthier don’t actually have measureable goals or touch points. So instead of just “Go to the Gym” its go to the gym or do an at home workout this many times a week. Or instead of be healthier its add one vegetable.
Last year my resolution was broadly to “Take Better Care of Myself” and the goals I set for that were
1.) Start a nighttime routine
2.) Make yearly Doctors appointments
3.) Cook Most of my meals at home every week.
4.) Incorporate newer recipes into my rotation
5.) Say No when I need to. (This one was the toughest and I’m still struggling with it)
This year my resolution is to “Put Myself Out There More, Be Less of a Perfectionist”
The goals I’ve set for this are:
1.) Start blogging on a Monthly Basis
2.) Start the DIY projects I’ve been putting off even if I don’t think I can do them perfectly 1 a month until they are done.
3.) No More New Projects – Instead of taking on new tasks I’m going to focus on what I’ve already purchased and committed to.
4.) Say No When I need to. (I’m bringing this one back from last year as I continue to work on this.)
5.) Just Finish the project. Sometimes good is okay. Not everything has to be a masterpiece most everything can be edited or updated later if needed. The goal is to just GET IT DONE.
So with that, Here’s my first blog of 2025. Let me know in the comments what Goals/resolutions you’ve set for yourself in 2025.
I love these. I love that they are realistic and measurable with a date that works for you instead of trying to meet the dates/goals of everyone else. Keep up the good work!
