Once again life has presented a change in my best made plans. When we sold our dream home four years ago and moved from Charlotte to Houston – I knew I was in for a big life adventure.
While it was a bittersweet move because of leaving all my beloved friends and clients behind – the excitement of exploring new places, people and things was a change I chose to embrace with enthusiasm! Fortunately my enthusiasm was greatly rewarded.
So here we go again. Because of my husband’s work being in Austin – we are moving there in just a few weeks.
Once again I get the beautiful soul expanding opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone and allow myself to grow as a human being.
Because of the amazing friends I have made and the excitement of my job – I have absolutely loved every minute of my Houston experience. But now it is time to say goodbye and move on to a new life adventure – with all the obstacles “change” brings our way.
The funny thing is – every move has motivated us to lighten our load, get rid of more stuff and simplify our lifestyle.
I call it the circle of stuff! When you first get married you can’t wait to make the big bucks so you can afford the stuff – you finally get the stuff and the kids grow up and move out and as many empty nesters do – you downsize and unload the stuff so you don’t have to move the stuff!
Because we need to survey our new city before we settle in – we are once again moving to an apartment (less luxurious than our one in Houston and three flights up!) Crazy right?
But the story I’m telling myself is this could be the best adventure yet. If my friggin 60 year old knees hold up – I could literally get the best body I’ve ever had just by living my life. What a perk! Right?
This morning when we woke up in our little two bedroom Houston love shack – we snuggled and spooned for just a few more minutes.
It was at this moment that I said “this is all I need!” And he of course agreed.
So whether I live in the most beautiful spacious home in Charlotte or an Austin apartment located on the third floor – it all comes down to enjoying the most precious simple things life has to offer.
And that realization has made all the difference.
