Hello and welcome to The Zen Den. My name is Alison and while I am passionate about many things, my most inspiring driving force is human connection. Blogger, content writer, orthopedic exercise specialist, motivational speaker, international yoga pro, published songwriter, avid poker player, mom and wife are just a few of my titles. But when I do my job at NASA, I am known simply as “The Fairy Zenmother” a role I deeply love because people invite me into their space to help them find their center, relax and stretch their muscles and destress their mind. Here in the blogosphere version of The Zen Den, I invite you into my world where I will explore ideas for creating a better tomorrow and a kinder today. And hopefully, with insight, authenticity and humor; my words, observations and experiences will help you feel calm, centered, intellectually challenged and spiritually enlightened. Alternatively, if you have something you would like to see covered in The Zen Den, just let me know. Your feedback is welcome and valuable to the success of this blog. Finally, my heart is filled with gratitude to have this opportunity to share with all of you.

Whatever happens on the third of November . . . this I know to be true: the world will keep revolving and you and I will invest in our families, our futures and our friends with perhaps more energy than ever before. It is what we do. Resilience is a defining factor of who we are.

Those who value humanity, civility and unity will find each other and come together with the dream of a better tomorrow. We will hold on to the hope that the pandemic will soon be over and we will be able to hug again, toast again at our favorite local pub and cheer again for our hometown team.

No matter who sits in the oval office, I will continue to write words from my heart and sow seeds of gratitude and appreciate all of you who comment and inspire me here in The Zen Den. Bob and Sheri will continue to make us laugh and show us the ways of playful fun with their furry companions and the joy of raising kids.

Come what may on November 3rd, as for me and my husband, love will be the leader in our household and gratitude will be the foundation of our mutually shared affection for nature’s beauty, for our children and for each other.

Political wrangling will not cease, in fact it may rise to more rancor than we have ever experienced in our lifetime. Come what may, we will have to choose a path of peace so we don’t lose our own sense of stability, joy and calm.

Come what may you and I will have to decide what is more important, a tribal political philosophy or a wide open space of objective thinking where diversity is not only welcomed but celebrated.

We all have heard stories of loved ones not speaking to one another over personal feelings about Donald Trump. Whether you are a Trump fan or voted for Biden you may have experienced alienation yourself. Why? All because a man was so gifted in his power of manipulation and persuasion he was able to convince many of us to draw a line in the sand and declare those on the other side to be the enemy or as he said on Thursday evening in Florida – “find out if they are friend or foe” and then proceeded to say “go after those sons of bitches.”

So come what may, it is that exact spirit of believing that those who hold a different political view than mine are “sons of bitches” and that those Americans are actually enemies . . . that I will repudiate every single day as long as I have breath.   Come what may . . . truth will shine again.
