Hello and welcome to The Zen Den. My name is Alison and while I am passionate about many things, my most inspiring driving force is human connection. Blogger, content writer, orthopedic exercise specialist, motivational speaker, international yoga pro, published songwriter, avid poker player, mom and wife are just a few of my titles. But when I do my job at NASA, I am known simply as “The Fairy Zenmother” a role I deeply love because people invite me into their space to help them find their center, relax and stretch their muscles and destress their mind. Here in the blogosphere version of The Zen Den, I invite you into my world where I will explore ideas for creating a better tomorrow and a kinder today. And hopefully, with insight, authenticity and humor; my words, observations and experiences will help you feel calm, centered, intellectually challenged and spiritually enlightened. Alternatively, if you have something you would like to see covered in The Zen Den, just let me know. Your feedback is welcome and valuable to the success of this blog. Finally, my heart is filled with gratitude to have this opportunity to share with all of you.

What if today we all decided to speak hope to one another?

You and I could each choose to illuminate the things we have in common instead of highlighting our differences.

All of us have been affected in some way or another by all the negativity floating around in the ether these days. Whether we are plugged in or not – the toxicity is invading our soul purely by osmosis. We inhale and exhale the same shared air.

We see and feel the daily effects of divisiveness, demeaning speech, name calling, finger pointing, mocking and bullying. Some of us recoil and feel a sense of sadness as we watch those behaviors be applauded and even celebrated as a form of strength while others of us feel empowered and emboldened to model the same behavior.

What if today we decided to denounce all tribal taunts and instead speak uplifting, uniting words to each other?

Throughout the world, we’ve watched this pervasive new style of leadership be praised as the perfect foe of political correctness. The reasoning behind the collective embrace, we are being told, is people want to say what they really feel without fear of repudiation and public reprimand – and now they have a platform to do just that.

What if today we all decided to speak life into each other?

Whether in a corporation, small business, public forum or religious gathering – the leader always sets the tone for the whole group. Just as a positive, optimistic voice can inspire entire groups to a higher calling, a toxic CEO can literally destroy the morale of a company one personal attack at a time.

What if today we all decided to speak inspiration into each other?

If we are to live in harmony and find the path of hope, we can no longer sit passively by and allow the ether to continue to be toxic. If hope is going to win – it is up to us to be defiant against all things corrosive to our united vision.

What if today we all decided to be kind to one another? Hope . . .powerful hope.
