Hello and welcome to The Zen Den. My name is Alison and while I am passionate about many things, my most inspiring driving force is human connection. Blogger, content writer, orthopedic exercise specialist, motivational speaker, international yoga pro, published songwriter, avid poker player, mom and wife are just a few of my titles. But when I do my job at NASA, I am known simply as “The Fairy Zenmother” a role I deeply love because people invite me into their space to help them find their center, relax and stretch their muscles and destress their mind. Here in the blogosphere version of The Zen Den, I invite you into my world where I will explore ideas for creating a better tomorrow and a kinder today. And hopefully, with insight, authenticity and humor; my words, observations and experiences will help you feel calm, centered, intellectually challenged and spiritually enlightened. Alternatively, if you have something you would like to see covered in The Zen Den, just let me know. Your feedback is welcome and valuable to the success of this blog. Finally, my heart is filled with gratitude to have this opportunity to share with all of you.

This seems to be the question of the day and one most of us are struggling to find an answer for.

To find peace of mind and joy in my daily life, I have been reduced to embracing one truth and that is LOVE conquers all things.

In the midst of harshness, bullying, rudeness and divisive tit for tat, I constantly remind myself of how LOVE behaves.

Love always seeks common ground, connection and peaceful resolution.

Love does not demand its own way but instead behaves in a way that is gracious, forgiving and empathetic.

Love looks for the high road and endeavors to take it.

Love isn’t theoretical nor is it a fleeting emotion. Love is a way of acting and requires a choice.

Love doesn’t put others down in order to build oneself up.

Love is kind, gentle, humble and patient . . . really, really patient.

At this very moment, documentaries are being made and books are being written exploring the question of how we became so polarized in our views and so hateful in our speech towards one another. Hindsight as usual will be 20/20, but we live in the here and now and the bridge to understanding each other is LOVE.

While love may seem like a very simple solution to the complex human nature of tribal hatred – every conflict whether between two people, two groups or two nations can only be resolved from a place of mutual respect and love for the other’s right to exist.

Love allows for opposing views and ideas and tirelessly seeks for ways to connect.

Love isn’t about retaliation, payback or retribution.

Love is . . . the answer.
