Hello and welcome to The Zen Den. My name is Alison and while I am passionate about many things, my most inspiring driving force is human connection. Blogger, content writer, orthopedic exercise specialist, motivational speaker, international yoga pro, published songwriter, avid poker player, mom and wife are just a few of my titles. But when I do my job at NASA, I am known simply as “The Fairy Zenmother” a role I deeply love because people invite me into their space to help them find their center, relax and stretch their muscles and destress their mind. Here in the blogosphere version of The Zen Den, I invite you into my world where I will explore ideas for creating a better tomorrow and a kinder today. And hopefully, with insight, authenticity and humor; my words, observations and experiences will help you feel calm, centered, intellectually challenged and spiritually enlightened. Alternatively, if you have something you would like to see covered in The Zen Den, just let me know. Your feedback is welcome and valuable to the success of this blog. Finally, my heart is filled with gratitude to have this opportunity to share with all of you.

Some choose to inspire – others to conspire
Some choose to listen – others choose to lecture
Some choose to link arm and arm – others choose to strong arm
Some choose to include – others choose to ostracize
Some choose to lift up – others choose to put down
Some choose to self-reflect – others choose to react and deflect
Some choose to love – others choose to hate
Some choose to unite – others choose to divide

This is the choice of humanity. This is the choice of each and every person.
These choices have nothing to do with left or right, red or blue, black or white, religious or non-theistic, or any other label someone may choose to define themselves by.
On any given day because we are flawed humans – we may not choose the better option.
But if we are so blessed – we might get another opportunity to wake up and choose again.
I want to be a person who is choosing the first options more than the second.
I wish to inspire others with my actions and my words to consider the opportunity to choose the higher road as well.
By the way, I am not an Olympic Gold Medalist chooser – while I may stick a 10 five times in a row – occasionally I will succumb to my own shortcomings.
In the meantime – I will try to elevate those who I feel make great coaches for improving my choices.
And in that light – I will also occasionally highlight those who I feel display contemptuous choices.
Sometimes a picture or a video are worth a thousand words. Sometimes seeing and hearing with our own eyes and ears can shed a different light – it turns out, seeing is often believing.
You and I get to choose. What a beautiful opportunity we have to make this world a better, brighter place.
Let’s choose wisely – together.
