There is a new Facebook group called “What do you see from your window” #StayAtHome. As I’m writing this, there are currently 121,344 members worldwide. Thankfully, I was invited to be one of them.
From the coast of Israel to the hills of Tuscany to the amazing cityscapes captured from a New York City high rise, people sheltering in place are using this moment in time to open their hearts and their windows and share what they see – and the result is truly exhilarating and deeply uplifting.
Perusing pictures and the comments of total strangers which accompany them, has been one of the most heartwarming social media expressions I’ve seen since joining Facebook.
As my eyes explore the beauty of places I’ve never been before, like the majestic mountains and aqua blue waters surrounding the isle of Crete to the breathtaking views of Australia’s outback, one consistent theme stands out . . . loving expressions of gratitude.
Absolutely love it 👏👏 sending hugs from Chesterfield, England, stay safe, beautiful 💜
Love the cat! Sending you love and hope from Atlanta Georgia!
Your photos of the Holy Land are probably the closest I’ll ever see of Israel. Thank you❗🌎 Greetings from NW Arkansas, USA
And the moon and the stars we all share the wonderful heavens, we are so very small when we look up in the sky and realize we are one world.
But mostly, every comment simply says “thank you.” You know what is gloriously missing? Ugliness, divisiveness and negativity – zip . . . nowhere to be found.
I’ve now read hundreds of comments. People from all over the globe are simply expressing gratitude for the small pleasure of seeing the world through the eyes of a stranger on a distant shore and it is . . . stunningly beautiful.
I believe this is the good that is going to come from this bad season – this is the light already shining at the end of the tunnel. Strip all of man’s political posturing, destructive rhetoric and power to control away – you find out we really are the same. The day we are able to finally remove our masks and emerge from our safe havens – I hope we use this new and improved “window to the world” to see each other in a new light. Stay safe my friends.
